Two-way sync
Changes in Marketo or OpenSearch instantly reflect in both systems. No stale data, no manual imports.
Keep Marketo and OpenSearch in sync without custom scripts. Cut weeks of integration work, eliminate silent data drift, and give your team a single, reliable source of truth.
Marketo holds the people, audiences, and campaign activity that marketing runs on, but that data sits behind interfaces built for marketers, not for your internal systems. Engineers and analysts who need contacts, list membership, or engagement, for reporting, attribution, or product logic, end up writing integration code against a rate-limited API and maintaining it forever. Meanwhile the customer and usage data marketers want for targeting already lives in OpenSearch, hard to get into campaigns without manual exports.
Stacksync mirrors Companies, Opportunities and Opportunity Roles, Custom Objects, Activities and Lead Changes from Marketo into Documents, Index aliases, Index templates, Ingest pipelines in OpenSearch field by field, in real time, and in both directions. Marketing records become rows your code can query and join with product and customer data; audiences and attributes computed in OpenSearch, from usage, orders, or account status, sync back into Marketo to drive campaigns and ads, with Marketo kept authoritative for engagement. You decide which side owns which fields, and Stacksync resolves conflicts by rules you set.
Contacts, leads, audiences, and campaign metrics from Marketo live in OpenSearch as ordinary tables or collections, joinable with the rest of your data and reachable without touching the vendor API.
Segments computed in OpenSearch from product usage, orders, or account status sync into Marketo as lists or audiences, so campaigns and ads target the people your data says they should.
Opens, clicks, sends, RSVPs, or ad activity from Marketo land in OpenSearch beside the matching customer record, ready for reporting and revenue attribution.
Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.
| Marketo objects | OpenSearch objects | How this pairing syncs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Programs and Program Members Marketing programs read via /rest/v1/programs.json; program membership and member status managed via /rest/v1/leads/programs/{programId}.json and the program status endpoint for acquisition and attribution reporting. | Index aliases Stable names over rotating indexes, used for zero-downtime reindex during backfills | Programs and Program Members is specific to Marketo and Index aliases to OpenSearch — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Smart Campaigns Automation flows read via /rest/v1/campaigns.json and run against a set of Leads by requesting a trigger campaign with POST /rest/v1/campaigns/{id}/trigger.json, so downstream logic can push Leads into a Marketo flow. | Index templates Mapping and settings presets applied to new indexes a sync creates | Smart Campaigns is specific to Marketo and Index templates to OpenSearch — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Leads Core person records (called Leads/People), deduped on email address by default or a configured dedupe field; read via GET /rest/v1/leads.json with a filterType, upserted via POST /rest/v1/leads.json (action createOrUpdate/createOnly/updateOnly), bulk-imported via CSV through POST /bulk/v1/leads.json, and bulk-exported via /bulk/v1/leads/export/create.json. | Ingest pipelines Server-side processors that transform documents as they are written | Leads is specific to Marketo and Ingest pipelines to OpenSearch — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Companies Company records linked to Leads via a company link field; read and upserted through /rest/v1/companies.json, typically mastered in a CRM or ERP and written into Marketo for account context. | Data streams Append-oriented time-series storage for logs and events pushed from source systems | Companies is specific to Marketo and Data streams to OpenSearch — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Opportunities and Opportunity Roles Revenue objects synced via /rest/v1/opportunities.json and /rest/v1/opportunities/roles.json; roles associate an opportunity with a Lead, so pipeline data can drive nurture and scoring. | Snapshots Backup artifacts, relevant when reseeding an index from a repository | Opportunities and Opportunity Roles is specific to Marketo and Snapshots to OpenSearch — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Custom Objects Auxiliary data tables described via /rest/v1/customobjects.json and read/written via /rest/v1/customobjects/{apiName}.json, linked to Leads by a dedupe/link field so campaigns branch on records like purchases or subscriptions. | Indexes The core container; synced records land in indexes with defined mappings | Custom Objects is specific to Marketo and Indexes to OpenSearch — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. |
Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.
DetectionStacksync polls Marketo for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling: Get Lead Changes and Get Lead Activities from a paging token seeded by a sinceDatetime, plus Get Deleted Leads, or Bulk Extract filtered on.
DeliveryEach detected change is written to OpenSearch through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Transform legacy EDI complexity into simple database interactions between Marketo and OpenSearch.
Configure and sync within minutes, no code. Whether you sync 50k or 100M+ records, Stacksync handles the queues, infra, and plumbing. Integrations are non-invasive and need zero setup on your systems.
Authenticate Marketo and OpenSearch with each platform's native method — OAuth, API keys, or service accounts — plus secure options like SSH tunneling, IP whitelisting, and VPC peering.
Pick the Marketo and OpenSearch objects to sync — Stacksync auto-detects both schemas, including custom fields where the platform exposes them. Sync to existing tables, or let Stacksync create new ones with ideal data types.
Fields map automatically even when names and types differ. Stacksync handles transformation and type casting for you, zero configuration required.
Yes. Stacksync provides a managed, real-time two-way integration between Marketo and OpenSearch: authenticate both systems, choose the objects to sync (such as Marketo's Programs and Program Members and Smart Campaigns), map fields visually, and changes propagate both ways in milliseconds — no code required.
Change detection on Marketo: Polling: Get Lead Changes and Get Lead Activities from a paging token seeded by a sinceDatetime, plus Get Deleted Leads, or Bulk Extract filtered on createdAt/updatedAt. Marketo's Webhooks are Smart Campaign flow-step outbound HTTP calls to a URL, not a general record-change subscription, so there is no push feed of arbitrary CRUD. On OpenSearch: No native change feed; reads rely on queries with scroll or point-in-time polling. Each detected change propagates to the other side in milliseconds, with field-level conflict resolution and an inspectable event log.
On the OpenSearch side: Documents, Index aliases, Index templates, Ingest pipelines, plus custom fields where OpenSearch exposes them. On the Marketo side: Companies, Opportunities and Opportunity Roles, Custom Objects, Activities and Lead Changes. Stacksync auto-detects both schemas and converts types between the two systems.
Yes. Each object mapping can be bidirectional or restricted to a single direction (both systems accept writes). Read-only mirrors, one-way pushes, and full two-way sync can be mixed in the same integration.
Common patterns for Marketo and OpenSearch: Query Marketo like a database; Build audiences from your own data; Engagement and results next to the customer. Contacts, leads, audiences, and campaign metrics from Marketo live in OpenSearch as ordinary tables or collections, joinable with the rest of your data and reachable without touching the vendor API.
Marketo: Marketo REST API (JSON over HTTPS) for Leads, Companies, Opportunities, Custom Objects, Activities, Lists, Programs, and Campaigns, plus an asynchronous Bulk Import (leads) and Bulk Extract (leads/activities/program members/custom objects) API and an Asset REST API for emails, forms, and landing pages. Authentication: OAuth 2.0 client_credentials (2-legged): GET the Identity URL /oauth/token?grant_type=client_credentials with a Custom Service client_id and client_secret to receive an access token valid for 3600 seconds, then send it as Authorization: Bearer on each call. The instance base URL is https://{munchkinId}.mktorest.com; passing the token as an access_token query parameter is deprecated (removal July 31, 2026). OpenSearch: REST API over HTTP(S) with JSON payloads. Authentication: Basic authentication with the security plugin, or AWS IAM request signing on Amazon OpenSearch Service. Stacksync manages authentication, retries, and rate limits on both sides.
