Two-way sync
Changes in Couchbase or Marketo instantly reflect in both systems. No stale data, no manual imports.
Keep Couchbase and Marketo in sync without custom scripts. Cut weeks of integration work, eliminate silent data drift, and give your team a single, reliable source of truth.
Marketo holds the people, audiences, and campaign activity that marketing runs on, but that data sits behind interfaces built for marketers, not for your internal systems. Engineers and analysts who need contacts, list membership, or engagement, for reporting, attribution, or product logic, end up writing integration code against a rate-limited API and maintaining it forever. Meanwhile the customer and usage data marketers want for targeting already lives in Couchbase, hard to get into campaigns without manual exports.
Stacksync mirrors Programs and Program Members, Smart Campaigns, Leads, Companies from Marketo into Full-text search indexes, Buckets, Scopes, Collections in Couchbase field by field, in real time, and in both directions. Marketing records become rows your code can query and join with product and customer data; audiences and attributes computed in Couchbase, from usage, orders, or account status, sync back into Marketo to drive campaigns and ads, with Marketo kept authoritative for engagement. You decide which side owns which fields, and Stacksync resolves conflicts by rules you set.
Contacts, leads, audiences, and campaign metrics from Marketo live in Couchbase as ordinary tables or collections, joinable with the rest of your data and reachable without touching the vendor API.
Segments computed in Couchbase from product usage, orders, or account status sync into Marketo as lists or audiences, so campaigns and ads target the people your data says they should.
Opens, clicks, sends, RSVPs, or ad activity from Marketo land in Couchbase beside the matching customer record, ready for reporting and revenue attribution.
Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.
| Couchbase objects | Marketo objects | How this pairing syncs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Global Secondary Indexes Indexes that make SQL++ query-based extraction efficient. | Companies Company records linked to Leads via a company link field; read and upserted through /rest/v1/companies.json, typically mastered in a CRM or ERP and written into Marketo for account context. | Global Secondary Indexes is specific to Couchbase and Companies to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| XDCR replications Cluster-to-cluster replication streams, useful context when choosing a sync source cluster. | Opportunities and Opportunity Roles Revenue objects synced via /rest/v1/opportunities.json and /rest/v1/opportunities/roles.json; roles associate an opportunity with a Lead, so pipeline data can drive nurture and scoring. | XDCR replications is specific to Couchbase and Opportunities and Opportunity Roles to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Full-text search indexes Search indexes over documents, relevant when syncing searchable content. | Custom Objects Auxiliary data tables described via /rest/v1/customobjects.json and read/written via /rest/v1/customobjects/{apiName}.json, linked to Leads by a dedupe/link field so campaigns branch on records like purchases or subscriptions. | Full-text search indexes is specific to Couchbase and Custom Objects to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Buckets Top-level data containers, roughly analogous to a database, that scope replication and memory quotas. | Activities and Lead Changes Engagement feed (opens, clicks, form fills, Data Value Changes) read via GET /rest/v1/activities.json using a paging token from /rest/v1/activities/pagingtoken.json (sinceDatetime), plus Get Lead Changes and Get Deleted Leads; read-only, also available via async Bulk Activity Extract. | Buckets is specific to Couchbase and Activities and Lead Changes to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Scopes Namespaces inside a bucket used to group collections, similar to schemas. | Static Lists Named static lists; read via /rest/v1/lists.json, with Leads added or removed via POST and DELETE on /rest/v1/lists/{listId}/leads.json to control campaign membership from lifecycle logic computed downstream. | Scopes is specific to Couchbase and Static Lists to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Collections Table-like groupings of documents that syncs typically map one-to-one to destination tables. | Programs and Program Members Marketing programs read via /rest/v1/programs.json; program membership and member status managed via /rest/v1/leads/programs/{programId}.json and the program status endpoint for acquisition and attribution reporting. | Collections is specific to Couchbase and Programs and Program Members to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. |
Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.
DetectionChanges in Couchbase are captured at the source via change data capture — no polling loop against its API. Database Change Protocol (DCP) streams document mutations.
DeliveryEach detected change is written to Marketo through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.
DetectionStacksync polls Marketo for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling: Get Lead Changes and Get Lead Activities from a paging token seeded by a sinceDatetime, plus Get Deleted Leads, or Bulk Extract filtered on.
DeliveryEach detected change is applied to Couchbase as a row-level write, with types converted between the two schemas.
Real-time sync, workflow automation, event queues, EDI, and monitoring, for every Couchbase–Marketo connection.
Changes in Couchbase or Marketo instantly reflect in both systems. No stale data, no manual imports.
Trigger automated workflows whenever Couchbase or Marketo data changes, update records, fire webhooks, or kick off sequences without brittle API scripts.
Handle millions of events per minute without losing a single Couchbase or Marketo record.
Track your Couchbase ⇄ Marketo sync health, view errors, and replay failed events in one click.
Transform legacy EDI complexity into simple database interactions between Couchbase and Marketo.
Configure and sync within minutes, no code. Whether you sync 50k or 100M+ records, Stacksync handles the queues, infra, and plumbing. Integrations are non-invasive and need zero setup on your systems.
Authenticate Couchbase and Marketo with each platform's native method — OAuth, API keys, or service accounts — plus secure options like SSH tunneling, IP whitelisting, and VPC peering.
Pick the Couchbase and Marketo objects to sync — Stacksync auto-detects both schemas, including custom fields where the platform exposes them. Sync to existing tables, or let Stacksync create new ones with ideal data types.
Fields map automatically even when names and types differ. Stacksync handles transformation and type casting for you, zero configuration required.
Yes. Stacksync provides a managed, real-time two-way integration between Couchbase and Marketo: authenticate both systems, choose the objects to sync (such as Couchbase's Global Secondary Indexes and XDCR replications), map fields visually, and changes propagate both ways in milliseconds — no code required.
Common patterns for Couchbase and Marketo: Query Marketo like a database; Build audiences from your own data; Engagement and results next to the customer. Contacts, leads, audiences, and campaign metrics from Marketo live in Couchbase as ordinary tables or collections, joinable with the rest of your data and reachable without touching the vendor API.
Couchbase: SQL++ (N1QL) query service, key-value SDK APIs, and REST management APIs. Authentication: Database credentials with role-based access control, typically over TLS. Marketo: Marketo REST API (JSON over HTTPS) for Leads, Companies, Opportunities, Custom Objects, Activities, Lists, Programs, and Campaigns, plus an asynchronous Bulk Import (leads) and Bulk Extract (leads/activities/program members/custom objects) API and an Asset REST API for emails, forms, and landing pages. Authentication: OAuth 2.0 client_credentials (2-legged): GET the Identity URL /oauth/token?grant_type=client_credentials with a Custom Service client_id and client_secret to receive an access token valid for 3600 seconds, then send it as Authorization: Bearer on each call. The instance base URL is https://{munchkinId}.mktorest.com; passing the token as an access_token query parameter is deprecated (removal July 31, 2026). Stacksync manages authentication, retries, and rate limits on both sides.
Couchbase: SQL++ (N1QL) provides SQL-style querying over JSON documents, including joins across collections, so extraction can be query-shaped rather than key-by-key. Marketo: Bulk Extract for leads, activities, program members, and custom objects is asynchronous (create, enqueue, poll, then stream the file) and shares a 500 MB/day export quota with a maximum of 2 concurrent jobs and 10 queued. Stacksync's field mapping accounts for these differences between Couchbase and Marketo without custom code.
Stacksync is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified with HIPAA BAA support. Data is encrypted in transit, and a zero-persistent-storage architecture means Couchbase and Marketo records are not retained after a sync operation.
Stacksync pricing is usage-based and starts at $1,000/month, including the managed Couchbase and Marketo connectors, real-time two-way sync, monitoring, and support. That replaces building and maintaining a custom Couchbase–Marketo integration in-house.
