Two-way sync
Changes in Marketo or Workday instantly reflect in both systems. No stale data, no manual imports.
Keep Marketo and Workday in sync without custom scripts. Cut weeks of integration work, eliminate silent data drift, and give your team a single, reliable source of truth.
Workday records the money — who pays, how much, and whether they are current; Marketo decides who hears from the business and what they hear. The two overlap wherever the same customers and contacts matter to both, and when that overlap is bridged by CSV exports or an overnight batch, campaigns target on stale billing data and finance works from lists marketing has already changed underneath it.
Stacksync syncs Suppliers, Customers and Invoices, Journal Entries, Custom Reports (RaaS) in Workday with Leads, Companies, Opportunities and Opportunity Roles, Custom Objects in Marketo field by field, in real time, and in both directions. You decide which system owns which fields — finance keeps the revenue and payment truth, marketing keeps consent and engagement — and Stacksync keeps every copy consistent and resolves conflicts by rules you set.
Plan tier, spend, or payment status from Workday lands on the matching record in Marketo, so segments and targeting reflect who actually pays and how much.
Where both systems keep customer or contact records, an edit on either side propagates to the other, ending dual maintenance and the drift it creates.
Registrants, form fills, or leads created in Marketo create or update the matching customer or contact in Workday, so billing and reporting start from accurate details without re-entry.
Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.
| Marketo objects | Workday objects | How this pairing syncs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opportunities and Opportunity Roles Revenue objects synced via /rest/v1/opportunities.json and /rest/v1/opportunities/roles.json; roles associate an opportunity with a Lead, so pipeline data can drive nurture and scoring. | Payroll Results Completed pay data exported to finance and benefits systems. | Opportunities and Opportunity Roles is specific to Marketo and Payroll Results to Workday — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Custom Objects Auxiliary data tables described via /rest/v1/customobjects.json and read/written via /rest/v1/customobjects/{apiName}.json, linked to Leads by a dedupe/link field so campaigns branch on records like purchases or subscriptions. | Suppliers Workday Financials vendor records aligned with procurement tools. | Custom Objects is specific to Marketo and Suppliers to Workday — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Activities and Lead Changes Engagement feed (opens, clicks, form fills, Data Value Changes) read via GET /rest/v1/activities.json using a paging token from /rest/v1/activities/pagingtoken.json (sinceDatetime), plus Get Lead Changes and Get Deleted Leads; read-only, also available via async Bulk Activity Extract. | Customers and Invoices Financials receivables objects synced for billing visibility where Workday Financials is used. | Activities and Lead Changes is specific to Marketo and Customers and Invoices to Workday — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Static Lists Named static lists; read via /rest/v1/lists.json, with Leads added or removed via POST and DELETE on /rest/v1/lists/{listId}/leads.json to control campaign membership from lifecycle logic computed downstream. | Journal Entries Accounting entries imported from external subledgers into Workday Financials. | Static Lists is specific to Marketo and Journal Entries to Workday — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Programs and Program Members Marketing programs read via /rest/v1/programs.json; program membership and member status managed via /rest/v1/leads/programs/{programId}.json and the program status endpoint for acquisition and attribution reporting. | Custom Reports (RaaS) Tenant-defined reports exposed as web service endpoints, often the practical read surface for syncs. | Programs and Program Members is specific to Marketo and Custom Reports (RaaS) to Workday — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Smart Campaigns Automation flows read via /rest/v1/campaigns.json and run against a set of Leads by requesting a trigger campaign with POST /rest/v1/campaigns/{id}/trigger.json, so downstream logic can push Leads into a Marketo flow. | Workers The central HCM record covering employment, job, and personal data; the anchor of most syncs. | Smart Campaigns is specific to Marketo and Workers to Workday — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. |
Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.
DetectionStacksync polls Marketo for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling: Get Lead Changes and Get Lead Activities from a paging token seeded by a sinceDatetime, plus Get Deleted Leads, or Bulk Extract filtered on.
DeliveryEach detected change is written to Workday through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Configure and sync within minutes, no code. Whether you sync 50k or 100M+ records, Stacksync handles the queues, infra, and plumbing. Integrations are non-invasive and need zero setup on your systems.
Authenticate Marketo and Workday with each platform's native method — OAuth, API keys, or service accounts — plus secure options like SSH tunneling, IP whitelisting, and VPC peering.
Pick the Marketo and Workday objects to sync — Stacksync auto-detects both schemas, including custom fields where the platform exposes them. Sync to existing tables, or let Stacksync create new ones with ideal data types.
Fields map automatically even when names and types differ. Stacksync handles transformation and type casting for you, zero configuration required.
Yes. Stacksync provides a managed, real-time two-way integration between Marketo and Workday: authenticate both systems, choose the objects to sync (such as Marketo's Opportunities and Opportunity Roles and Custom Objects), map fields visually, and changes propagate both ways in milliseconds — no code required.
Common patterns for Marketo and Workday: Revenue and billing signals reach the audience; One customer and contact list; Where Marketo captures new people: clean records flow to finance. Plan tier, spend, or payment status from Workday lands on the matching record in Marketo, so segments and targeting reflect who actually pays and how much.
Marketo: Marketo REST API (JSON over HTTPS) for Leads, Companies, Opportunities, Custom Objects, Activities, Lists, Programs, and Campaigns, plus an asynchronous Bulk Import (leads) and Bulk Extract (leads/activities/program members/custom objects) API and an Asset REST API for emails, forms, and landing pages. Authentication: OAuth 2.0 client_credentials (2-legged): GET the Identity URL /oauth/token?grant_type=client_credentials with a Custom Service client_id and client_secret to receive an access token valid for 3600 seconds, then send it as Authorization: Bearer on each call. The instance base URL is https://{munchkinId}.mktorest.com; passing the token as an access_token query parameter is deprecated (removal July 31, 2026). Workday: SOAP Workday Web Services (WWS), a REST API, and Reports-as-a-Service (RaaS) endpoints for custom reports. Authentication: OAuth 2.0 for the REST API; integration system users with WS-Security or certificate-based auth for SOAP. Stacksync manages authentication, retries, and rate limits on both sides.
Workday: SOAP operations such as Get_Workers accept transaction-log criteria, letting integrations request only objects changed since the last run. Marketo: Interactive calls are limited to 100 per 20 seconds (error 606) and 10 concurrent calls (error 615) per instance, neither of which can be increased, under a default 50,000-calls-per-day quota that resets at midnight CST. Stacksync's field mapping accounts for these differences between Marketo and Workday without custom code.
Stacksync is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified with HIPAA BAA support. Data is encrypted in transit, and a zero-persistent-storage architecture means Marketo and Workday records are not retained after a sync operation.
