Why teams connect Magento and NetSuite

Keep the storefront in step with the back office: Magento and NetSuite share products, inventory, and orders in real time, in both directions.

Magento runs the storefront and takes the orders; NetSuite owns the item master, the stock on hand, and the finance behind every transaction. The two overlap wherever the same products, customers, and sales matter to both — and when re-keying or an overnight batch is what connects them, the store oversells items it can't ship, quotes prices finance never set, or leaves buyers waiting on status that already changed.

Stacksync syncs Invoices, Shipments, Carts / quotes, Products in Magento with Price Level, Term, Subsidiary, All custom objects in NetSuite field by field, in real time, and in both directions. You decide which system owns which fields — stock and pricing from NetSuite, order and customer detail from Magento — and Stacksync keeps every copy consistent and resolves conflicts by rules you set.

Common use cases

  • 01 Read new Orders to trigger provisioning, accounting, or 3PL fulfillment in an operational database as they are placed.
  • 02 Sync Orders, invoices, and shipments from Magento into Postgres or a warehouse for revenue, margin, and fulfillment-SLA reporting.
  • 03 Expose item and inventory data to internal applications through a continuously synced database table.
  • 04 Mirror journal entries and transaction lines into a warehouse for financial reporting without CSV exports.

Common sync patterns

Fulfillment and shipment status close the loop

As orders are picked, shipped, or invoiced in NetSuite, tracking and status flow back to Magento so buyers see accurate updates.

One customer master

Where both systems keep customer records, a correction in either propagates to the other, ending dual maintenance.

Where NetSuite is the inventory system of record: stock stays accurate

Available quantities from NetSuite publish to Magento, so the store shows what can actually ship and stops overselling.

What you can sync between Magento and NetSuite

Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.

Magento objects NetSuite objects How this pairing syncs
Categories Catalog tree and product-to-category assignments; written into Magento to control merchandising and read out for taxonomy reporting. Term Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Categories is specific to Magento and Term to NetSuite — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Orders Sales orders with line items, totals, and status; typically read out of Magento into a warehouse or ERP for fulfillment and revenue reporting. Subsidiary Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Orders is specific to Magento and Subsidiary to NetSuite — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Customers Customer accounts and address book; synced two-way with a CRM so order history and contact records stay consistent. All custom objects Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Customers is specific to Magento and All custom objects to NetSuite — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Inventory source items (MSI) Per-source stock quantities under Multi-Source Inventory; written from a WMS/ERP so storefront stock matches the warehouse. Nexus Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Inventory source items (MSI) is specific to Magento and Nexus to NetSuite — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Invoices Invoice documents tied to orders; read out for finance and revenue recognition, or created via the sales API when billing downstream. Tax Type Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Invoices is specific to Magento and Tax Type to NetSuite — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Shipments Shipment and tracking records against orders; created or read to drive fulfillment status between Magento and a 3PL/WMS. Sales Tax Item Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Shipments is specific to Magento and Sales Tax Item to NetSuite — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between Magento and NetSuite

Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.

Magento NetSuite Sub-second propagation

DetectionMagento notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. Polling with searchCriteria filters on updated_at (catalog, sales, and customer entities carry created_at/updated_at).

DeliveryEach detected change is written to NetSuite through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

NetSuite Magento Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls NetSuite for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling on lastModifiedDate via SuiteQL or saved searches.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Magento through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Rate-limit considerations

  • Magento: No fixed request-per-minute cap on PaaS/on-prem; responses page via searchCriteria pageSize/currentPage under a default maximum page size of 300 (Web API Input Limits), with /async/bulk endpoints for large writes.
  • NetSuite: API concurrency is governed per account; sync tools queue and throttle requests.

How the Magento and NetSuite connectors work

Magento

Integration surface
REST and GraphQL Web APIs (SOAP also available)
Authentication
Token-based OAuth: an integration's access token (consumer key/secret + access token/secret) or a Bearer admin token (default 4-hour expiry); Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service authenticates via Adobe IMS (OAuth 2)
Change detection
Polling with searchCriteria filters on updated_at (catalog, sales, and customer entities carry created_at/updated_at); optional near-real-time via the Adobe Commerce Webhooks / Adobe I/O Events modules (order/created, product/updated, customer/created)
Capabilities
read · write · webhooks
Rate limits
No fixed request-per-minute cap on PaaS/on-prem; responses page via searchCriteria pageSize/currentPage under a default maximum page size of 300 (Web API Input Limits), with /async/bulk endpoints for large writes.

NetSuite

Integration surface
SuiteTalk REST and SOAP web services, plus SuiteQL queries
Authentication
Token-Based Authentication (TBA): enable REST Web Services (and SOAP Web Services) + Token-Based Authentication in NetSuite, create an integration record to get Consumer ID/Secret
Change detection
Polling on lastModifiedDate via SuiteQL or saved searches; no native webhooks without custom SuiteScript
Capabilities
read · write
Rate limits
API concurrency is governed per account; sync tools queue and throttle requests.
