Xactly owns the customer relationship and the pipeline; Iterable runs the campaigns, audiences, and outreach that fill it. The two overlap on the same people and companies — a lead in one system is a subscriber, a segment member, an event registrant, or an ad audience in the other. When that overlap is bridged by CSV exports or a nightly job, sales works from lists that no longer match reality and marketing keeps targeting people whose status has already moved on.

Stacksync syncs Products & Customers, Orders, Credits, Transactions (Commission & Bonus) in Xactly with Catalogs, Commerce / Purchases, Export data, Users in Iterable field by field, in real time, and in both directions. You decide which system owns which fields — Xactly can own account and opportunity status while Iterable owns engagement and campaign membership — and Stacksync keeps every copy consistent and resolves conflicts by rules you set.

Commerce / Purchases Purchase and cart activity tracked via /api/commerce/trackPurchase and /api/commerce/updateCart, feeding revenue attribution and abandoned-cart journeys. Positions & Titles Org-hierarchy positions and titles that credits and quotas roll up to; loaded and maintained through Connect (write) and read to resolve the hierarchy, so read and write. Commerce / Purchases is specific to Iterable and Positions & Titles to Xactly — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Export data Historical user and event records pulled through the Export API (/api/export/data.json, data.csv, and userEvents) across data types like emailSend, emailOpen, emailClick, emailBounce, purchase, and customEvent. Quotas / Targets Period quota and target values per position or plan; loaded from planning tools through Connect (write) and read for attainment reporting, so read and write. Export data is specific to Iterable and Quotas / Targets to Xactly — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Users User profiles keyed by email or userId with custom data fields; upserted via POST /api/users/update, read via GET /api/users/{email} or getByUserId, bulk-written via /api/users/bulkUpdate (up to 1000 users per call), and deleted or GDPR-forgotten. Payment Summary (Payable) Approved payable amounts per participant per period; read as the output that feeds payroll and accounts payable, so effectively read-only. Users is specific to Iterable and Payment Summary (Payable) to Xactly — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between Iterable and Xactly

Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.

Iterable Xactly Sub-second propagation

DetectionIterable notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. System Webhooks push email/SMS/push/in-app and custom events (send, open, click, bounce, complaint, unsubscribe) as JSON POSTs in near real time.

DeliveryEach detected change is applied to Xactly as a row-level write, with types converted between the two schemas.

Xactly Iterable Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls Xactly for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. No CDC log for external tools to consume.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Iterable through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Rate-limit considerations

  • Iterable: Limits are per endpoint and per project/key; exceeding one returns HTTP 429, so exponential backoff is advised. Event tracking allows far higher volume than metadata endpoints like campaigns/templates, and the Export API is throttled more tightly. Since Nov 10, 2025, passing the key in the query string or body is rate-limited more strictly than the Api-Key header.
  • Xactly: Xactly does not publish numeric per-second rate limits. The Connect platform enforces query concurrency and long-running-query limits, so large extracts are paged and heavy loads/queries run as asynchronous Connect jobs (submit, then retrieve results) rather than row-by-row calls; batch loads are the supported path for high volume.

Authentication
API key sent in the Api-Key HTTP header (also accepted as Api_Key; the name is case-insensitive). Keys are scoped by type - Server-side, JavaScript (Web SDK), or Mobile - with optional JWT-enabled keys. US projects use api.iterable.com; EU projects use api.eu.iterable.com.
Change detection

Xactly

Integration surface
Xactly Connect REST API v2 (JSON), plus ODBC/JDBC drivers over the same ANSI-SQL data model. Incent data is exposed as SQL-queryable objects (for example xactly_order, xactly_credit, xactly_transaction, xactly_payment); data is loaded and extracted through Connect load/query steps and server-side ETL Pipelines. The base host is region/pod-specific (for example https://<pod>.xactlycorp.com).
Authentication
OAuth 2.0 via the Xactly Connect API Gateway (bearer tokens issued on behalf of an Xactly Incent user), with HTTP Basic authentication using a dedicated Xactly Connect service-user's credentials also supported for the Connect REST API v2. The connecting user needs Connect/API access plus the relevant object permissions in Incent.
Change detection
No CDC log for external tools to consume. Incremental sync uses SQL predicates on modified/last-updated timestamp columns (for example WHERE modified_date > watermark) against Connect's queryable objects, or scheduled Connect ETL Pipelines that pull deltas since the last run. Xactly Connect has no outbound HTTP webhooks, so change detection is pull/ETL-based.
