Jumpcloud is where a company records who its people are: their accounts, the groups and roles they hold, and the attributes attached to each one. Ironclad is where a slice of those same people do their work, as agents, members, or seats, and every one of them needs a matching account with the right access. When a directory and a productivity tool are maintained by hand, someone added, moved, or offboarded in one becomes a stale entry in the other within the hour.

Stacksync syncs Records, Entities, Obligations, Webhooks in Ironclad with Commands, Directory Insights events, System Users (Users), User Groups in Jumpcloud bi-directionally and in real time. A user created, renamed, moved between groups, or deactivated in either system updates the matching record in the other within seconds, with field-level mapping and conflict resolution in place of CSV uploads and nightly IT batch jobs.

That matters most at the edges of employment. When both systems agree on who has an account, which groups they belong to, and whether they are still active, granting access on day one and revoking it on the last day stops being a manual checklist that trails the directory.

Mirror group and role membership

Moving a user between groups or roles in Jumpcloud updates their team, permission set, or seat in Ironclad, so what someone can do reflects where they sit in the directory.

One record per person

People matched across both systems on email or an external ID stay linked, so every account and action in Ironclad ties back to the right identity in Jumpcloud.

Provision access when someone joins

Rate-limit considerations

  • Ironclad: Limits are enforced per account per minute by endpoint: GET Workflows 400 and POST/PATCH Workflows 40; GET Records 600 and POST/PATCH Records 200; GET Entities 600 and POST/PATCH Entities 200; Webhooks 600; all other endpoints 800. Exceeding a limit returns HTTP 429, and Ironclad recommends exponential backoff with jitter.
  • Jumpcloud: JumpCloud rate-limits API requests and returns HTTP 429 (Rate limit exceeded) when a client sends requests too quickly; its guidance is to back off and retry at a lower rate. Specific per-minute ceilings are not published, and the Directory Insights API is metered separately. Webhook deliveries are retried three times with exponential backoff on 5xx, 408, or 429 responses.

How the Ironclad and Jumpcloud connectors work

Ironclad

Integration surface
REST/JSON Public API (CLM API) at https://na1.ironcladapp.com/public/api/v1 (NA1 and EU1 regions plus a demo/sandbox), with a native Webhooks subscription API; described by an OpenAPI 3.1 spec.
Authentication
OAuth 2.0 - Authorization Code grant (PKCE for public clients) and Client Credentials grant for server-to-server; access tokens are Bearer, expire after 6 hours, and every endpoint is gated by a resource scope. The legacy static API bearer token was deprecated on 2024-11-22.
Change detection
Native webhook subscriptions (POST /webhooks) fire on 40+ workflow, approval, signature, document, and comment events, and Ironclad retries a failing endpoint up to 10 times over about 13.6 hours with exponential backoff. Otherwise poll the list endpoints by last-updated. There is no database change-data-capture log.
