Auth0 is where a company records who its people are: their accounts, the groups and roles they hold, and the attributes attached to each one. Ironclad is where a slice of those same people do their work, as agents, members, or seats, and every one of them needs a matching account with the right access. When a directory and a productivity tool are maintained by hand, someone added, moved, or offboarded in one becomes a stale entry in the other within the hour.
Stacksync syncs Workflows, Records, Entities, Obligations in Ironclad with Users, Roles, Organizations, Organization Members in Auth0 bi-directionally and in real time. A user created, renamed, moved between groups, or deactivated in either system updates the matching record in the other within seconds, with field-level mapping and conflict resolution in place of CSV uploads and nightly IT batch jobs.
That matters most at the edges of employment. When both systems agree on who has an account, which groups they belong to, and whether they are still active, granting access on day one and revoking it on the last day stops being a manual checklist that trails the directory.
A user added to Auth0, or moved into a group inside it, gets the matching account or membership created in Ironclad, so a new hire can start working without a separate setup ticket.
When a user is disabled or removed in Auth0, their account in Ironclad is deactivated in step, so offboarding shuts down access everywhere instead of leaving a live login behind.
A person's name, email, department, manager, or phone number corrected in either system updates the other, so the productivity tool shows the same details the directory holds of record.

Auth0: Management API v2 (REST); Authentication API issues the access token. Authentication: OAuth 2.0 client credentials from a machine-to-machine application; scoped Bearer JWT where each operation needs its own scope (e.g. read:users, create:users, update:users) or returns 403. Ironclad: REST/JSON Public API (CLM API) at https://na1.ironcladapp.com/public/api/v1 (NA1 and EU1 regions plus a demo/sandbox), with a native Webhooks subscription API; described by an OpenAPI 3.1 spec. Authentication: OAuth 2.0 - Authorization Code grant (PKCE for public clients) and Client Credentials grant for server-to-server; access tokens are Bearer, expire after 6 hours, and every endpoint is gated by a resource scope. The legacy static API bearer token was deprecated on 2024-11-22. Stacksync manages authentication, retries, and rate limits on both sides.
Ironclad: Workflows are the core unit - a live contract process (create, review, approve, sign) - while Records hold the executed contracts stored in the Ironclad Repository. Auth0: Passwords are never returned by the API — hashes can only be written into a database connection via the bulk user-import job, not read out. Stacksync's field mapping accounts for these differences between Auth0 and Ironclad without custom code.
