Two-way sync
Changes in Docusign or Ironclad instantly reflect in both systems. No stale data, no manual imports.
Keep Docusign and Ironclad in sync without custom scripts. Cut weeks of integration work, eliminate silent data drift, and give your team a single, reliable source of truth.
Two tools in the daily stack often hold overlapping information: the same people, the same companies, or the same pieces of work, described twice. The tools do different jobs, so consolidating is not the answer; the overlap just needs to stop drifting.
Stacksync syncs Documents, Templates, Tabs (form fields), Envelope Custom Fields in Docusign with Obligations, Webhooks, Workflow Approvals, Signature Packets in Ironclad in real time. You choose which records overlap, map the fields that should match, and pick a direction or let changes flow both ways. From then on, an update made in either tool is reflected in the other within seconds, without exports or copy-paste.
Because the sync is field-level, each tool keeps its own extras; only the shared data is held in agreement.
Payments, replies, messages, or tickets created in one tool can create or update matching records in the other, keeping context in one place.
Information that originates in Docusign stays current in Ironclad instead of going stale after a one-time paste.
When work started in one tool continues in the other, the shared fields travel with it automatically.
Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.
| Docusign objects | Ironclad objects | How this pairing syncs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Envelopes The core container for a signature request — documents, recipients, routing, and status; read status and metadata two-way, and create/send new envelopes. | Webhooks Event subscriptions that push workflow, approval, signature, document, and comment changes to Stacksync in near real time; created, listed, and deleted through the API across 40+ event types. | Envelopes is specific to Docusign and Webhooks to Ironclad — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Recipients Signers, carbon copies, and agents on an envelope, each with a routing order and status; read recipient progress, write recipient lists when an envelope is created. | Workflow Approvals Per-workflow approval requests and their state; read to report approval status and cycle time, and status changes arrive live through the workflow_approval_status_changed event. | Recipients is specific to Docusign and Workflow Approvals to Ironclad — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Documents The PDF files inside an envelope plus the certificate of completion; read signed output out to a store, or supply source documents on create. | Signature Packets The e-signature packets on a workflow (sent, signatures collected, fully signed); read to track signing progress, with packet events delivered by webhook for real-time status. | Documents is specific to Docusign and Signature Packets to Ironclad — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Templates Reusable envelope definitions with predefined recipients and tab placement; read to map fields and referenced by ID to generate new envelopes. | Workflow Documents Draft and executed documents attached to a workflow; retrieved to pull generated or signed files out into a document store or archive. | Templates is specific to Docusign and Workflow Documents to Ironclad — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Tabs (form fields) Signature, initial, date, text, and checkbox fields on a document; they carry the data a signer entered and are read out into databases. | Workflows The core unit of Ironclad: a live contract process (NDA, MSA, order form) moving through creation, review, approval, and signature. Launched via POST, updated via PATCH, and read for status, so contract processes move two-way between Ironclad and a database, CRM, or ERP. | Tabs (form fields) is specific to Docusign and Workflows to Ironclad — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Envelope Custom Fields Text and list metadata used to tag envelopes for reporting; synced to a warehouse or CRM to key and categorize agreements. | Records The Repository of executed and stored contracts with metadata (value, counterparty, key dates, type) and attachments; full create, read, update, and delete so signed-contract data and PDFs sync to a warehouse, ERP, or CRM. | Envelope Custom Fields is specific to Docusign and Records to Ironclad — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. |
Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.
DetectionDocusign notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. Docusign Connect webhooks push envelope and recipient status-change events in real time.
DeliveryEach detected change is written to Ironclad through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.
DetectionIronclad notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. Native webhook subscriptions (POST /webhooks) fire on 40+ workflow, approval, signature, document, and comment events, and Ironclad retries a failing.

Pick the Docusign and Ironclad objects to sync — Stacksync auto-detects both schemas, including custom fields where the platform exposes them. Sync to existing tables, or let Stacksync create new ones with ideal data types.
Fields map automatically even when names and types differ. Stacksync handles transformation and type casting for you, zero configuration required.
Yes. Stacksync provides a managed, real-time two-way integration between Docusign and Ironclad: authenticate both systems, choose the objects to sync (such as Docusign's Envelopes and Recipients), map fields visually, and changes propagate both ways in milliseconds — no code required.
Common patterns for Docusign and Ironclad: Where one tool produces events: mirror them in the other; Where Ironclad is where the team documents or plans: keep its data fed; Handoffs between teams. Payments, replies, messages, or tickets created in one tool can create or update matching records in the other, keeping context in one place.
Docusign: ESignature REST API v2.1 (plus Docusign Connect webhooks; separate CLM, Rooms, and Admin APIs). Authentication: OAuth 2.0 — Authorization Code Grant for interactive apps, or JWT Grant (RSA key pair with user impersonation) for server-to-server integrations. Ironclad: REST/JSON Public API (CLM API) at https://na1.ironcladapp.com/public/api/v1 (NA1 and EU1 regions plus a demo/sandbox), with a native Webhooks subscription API; described by an OpenAPI 3.1 spec. Authentication: OAuth 2.0 - Authorization Code grant (PKCE for public clients) and Client Credentials grant for server-to-server; access tokens are Bearer, expire after 6 hours, and every endpoint is gated by a resource scope. The legacy static API bearer token was deprecated on 2024-11-22. Stacksync manages authentication, retries, and rate limits on both sides.
Docusign: JWT Grant integrations require one-time admin consent and impersonate a specific Docusign user, and must respect Docusign's userinfo call-frequency guidance. Ironclad: The Public API is write-capable: you can launch and bulk-launch workflows, update workflow attributes, and create, update, or delete records, entities, and obligations - it is not a read-only export. Stacksync's field mapping accounts for these differences between Docusign and Ironclad without custom code.
Stacksync is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified with HIPAA BAA support. Data is encrypted in transit, and a zero-persistent-storage architecture means Docusign and Ironclad records are not retained after a sync operation.
Stacksync pricing is usage-based and starts at $1,000/month, including the managed Docusign and Ironclad connectors, real-time two-way sync, monitoring, and support. That replaces building and maintaining a custom Docusign–Ironclad integration in-house.
