Why teams connect Infor WMS and Salesforce Marketing Cloud

Feed the real customer, order, and revenue records from Infor WMS into Salesforce Marketing Cloud so campaigns run on who actually bought what, and let contact and consent changes flow back in real time.

Marketing runs on lists of people, but the list rarely knows which of those people are paying customers, what they ordered, or what they are worth. Infor WMS holds exactly that: Tasks, Locations, Shipments, Appointments that record who the customer is, what they bought, and what they owe. When the two are joined only by a periodic export, campaigns go out against stale audiences, existing customers get prospecting emails, high-value accounts look the same as cold leads, and a canceled order still counts toward a segment.

Stacksync syncs Tasks, Locations, Shipments, Appointments in Infor WMS with Automations (Automation Studio), Tracking Events, Transactional Sends, Data Extensions in Salesforce Marketing Cloud in real time, and where both sides accept writes, in both directions. Customer, order, and invoice data maps field by field onto the contacts, audiences, or accounts Salesforce Marketing Cloud works with, so segmentation and personalization run on current purchase history instead of a month-old snapshot. Contact details and consent changes that originate in Salesforce Marketing Cloud flow back onto the record in Infor WMS.

The strongest bridge between the two is identity and purchase history, who the customer is and what they have bought, so that is where most of the value sits. Because the sync is field-level, each system keeps the attributes the other has no use for; only the shared records are held in agreement.

Common use cases

  • 01 Mirror ASN and receipt data into procurement so buyers see received quantities without logging into the WMS
  • 02 Consolidate task and labor data into a BI warehouse for productivity reporting
  • 03 Land tracking events - Sent, Open, Click, Bounce, Unsubscribe - from the SOAP tracking objects or Automation Studio Data Views into a warehouse table for per-send deliverability reporting.
  • 04 Sync Contacts and Subscriber Key subscription status between Marketing Cloud and a CRM so suppression and opt-in state stay current before the next send.

Common sync patterns

Purchase history drives segmentation

Orders, invoices, and revenue totals from Infor WMS land on the matching contact or account in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, so audiences are built from what customers actually bought and spent rather than from guesses.

Suppress or target existing customers

Because Infor WMS knows who is already a paying customer, Salesforce Marketing Cloud can exclude them from acquisition campaigns or single them out for renewal and cross-sell.

One customer identity across both systems

A person or company's contact details corrected in either system update the other, so marketing and the back office stop maintaining separate versions of the same record.

What you can sync between Infor WMS and Salesforce Marketing Cloud

Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.

Infor WMS objects Salesforce Marketing Cloud objects How this pairing syncs
Items Item definitions keep the WMS aligned with the ERP or OMS item master. Transactional Sends Triggered and transactional Email/SMS delivered through the Messaging API (/messaging/v1/email/messages/{key}); the Event Notification Service reports each message's disposition (delivered, bounced, opened, clicked). Items is specific to Infor WMS and Transactional Sends to Salesforce Marketing Cloud — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Inventory On-hand quantities by location feed available-to-promise in order-taking systems. Data Extensions Custom relational tables that store subscriber, audience, and arbitrary business data; rows are read via GET /data/v1/customobjectdata or SOAP Retrieve and upserted via the synchronous rowset PUT or the async /data/v1/async/dataextensions rows endpoint. This is the primary two-way surface. Inventory is specific to Infor WMS and Data Extensions to Salesforce Marketing Cloud — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Receipts / ASNs Advance shipment notices and receipt confirmations sync with procurement systems. Contacts / Subscribers The contact model keyed by Subscriber Key, holding channel addresses and subscription status; managed through the Contacts API (/contacts/v1/contacts) and the SOAP Subscriber object, and referenced by every send and journey. Receipts / ASNs is specific to Infor WMS and Contacts / Subscribers to Salesforce Marketing Cloud — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Shipment Orders Outbound orders arrive from the ERP or OMS for allocation and picking. Journeys (Journey Builder) Multi-step automated flows read and managed via /interaction/v1/interactions; contacts are injected by firing an entry event to /interaction/v1/events with an EventDefinitionKey and contact data. Shipment Orders is specific to Infor WMS and Journeys (Journey Builder) to Salesforce Marketing Cloud — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Waves Wave assignments group orders for fulfillment and can be reported outward. Content Assets (Content Builder) Emails, templates, images, and reusable content blocks stored in Content Builder and read or written via /asset/v1/content/assets, used to compose the messages a journey or send delivers. Waves is specific to Infor WMS and Content Assets (Content Builder) to Salesforce Marketing Cloud — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Tasks Warehouse task data supports labor and productivity reporting in BI tools. Automations (Automation Studio) Scheduled or triggered workflows of import, query, extract, and send activities managed via /automation/v1/automations; SQL Query Activities read Data Views and write results into Data Extensions. Tasks is specific to Infor WMS and Automations (Automation Studio) to Salesforce Marketing Cloud — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between Infor WMS and Salesforce Marketing Cloud

Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.

Infor WMS Salesforce Marketing Cloud Sub-second propagation

DetectionInfor WMS notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. ION event publishing or scheduled polling of API endpoints.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Salesforce Marketing Cloud through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud Infor WMS Sub-second propagation

DetectionSalesforce Marketing Cloud notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. The Event Notification Service (ENS) issues HTTPS POST callbacks for transactional Email and SMS events (sent, bounce, open, click) once a callback.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Infor WMS through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Rate-limit considerations

  • Infor WMS: Subject to Infor ION API gateway throttling policies.
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud: Salesforce does not publish fixed numeric REST rate limits; requests are throttled per account and can return HTTP 429, so backoff is advised. SOAP Retrieve returns at most 2,500 records per call and pages via ContinueRequest with the prior RequestID. Bulk Data Extension writes use the async rows API to queue inserts in the background.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud

Integration surface
Two APIs on tenant-specific endpoints: a REST API (JSON over HTTPS) for Data Extensions, Journeys, Contacts, Content Builder, and Automations, plus a legacy SOAP API (ExactTarget WSDL) for tracking events and bulk Retrieve.
Authentication
OAuth 2.0 via an Installed Package (Client ID + Client Secret). Server-to-server uses the client_credentials grant and web apps use authorization_code, both against {subdomain}.auth.marketingcloudapis.com/v2/token. The 20-minute access token response also returns the account's rest_instance_url and soap_instance_url.
Change detection
The Event Notification Service (ENS) issues HTTPS POST callbacks for transactional Email and SMS events (sent, bounce, open, click) once a callback URL and subscription are registered and verified. There is no general data-change feed, so Data Extension and Data View syncs poll by date fields.

Salesforce does not publish fixed numeric REST rate limits; requests are throttled per account and can return HTTP 429, so backoff is advised. SOAP Retrieve returns at most 2,500 records per call and pages via ContinueRequest with the prior RequestID. Bulk Data Extension writes use the async rows API to queue inserts in the background.
