Users Account members and senders; the eSignature Users resource exposes them for attribution and reporting, while bulk org-wide user provisioning uses the separate Admin API. Users Member records read individually or via contacts; get_authenticated_user identifies the token owner. Used read-only for directory-style syncs. Same entity on both sides — records pair one-to-one and field-level changes reconcile in both directions.
Envelopes The core container for a signature request — documents, recipients, routing, and status; read status and metadata two-way, and create/send new envelopes. Blobs Images and file attachments stored per thread; downloaded with get_blob and uploaded with put_blob against a specific thread ID. Envelopes is specific to Docusign and Blobs to Quip — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Recipients Signers, carbon copies, and agents on an envelope, each with a routing order and status; read recipient progress, write recipient lists when an envelope is created. Spreadsheets Live-spreadsheet threads; rows and cells are read and written through add_to_spreadsheet and update_spreadsheet_row helpers on the same thread endpoints. Recipients is specific to Docusign and Spreadsheets to Quip — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Templates Reusable envelope definitions with predefined recipients and tab placement; read to map fields and referenced by ID to generate new envelopes. Messages Comments and chat posts on a thread; the most recent are read with get_messages and new ones written with new_message. Templates is specific to Docusign and Messages to Quip — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between Docusign and Quip

  • Docusign: Default 3,000 API requests per hour per account across all integrations, plus a burst limit of 500 calls per 30-second window; usage is exposed via the RateLimit and BurstLimit response headers.
  • Quip: Automation API allows roughly 50 requests per minute per access token; exceeding it returns HTTP 503, and responses carry X-RateLimit headers.
