Why teams connect ClickHouse and Gong

Sync Gong into ClickHouse continuously and push warehouse results back onto CRM records, one two-way connection instead of two pipelines.

The CRM feeds the warehouse and the warehouse should feed the CRM: relationship data flows one way, and computed scores, segments, and customer context flow back. Most teams build the first half as a batch pipeline and never quite get to the second.

Stacksync does both with one connection. Data Privacy (Erasure), Calls, Transcripts, Users from Gong land in ClickHouse as live tables, updated within seconds, and columns computed in ClickHouse write back to fields in Gong. There is no separate ETL and reverse-ETL stack to stitch together and no jobs to babysit.

Common use cases

  • 01 Pull call Transcripts by callId into a warehouse or vector store to power search, RAG, and deal-review summaries over what was said on calls.
  • 02 Sync Interaction Stats such as talk ratios and per-rep activity into a coaching database for engagement and rep-performance dashboards.
  • 03 Land product event data alongside synced CRM accounts so analysts join usage and revenue in one place.
  • 04 Sync aggregated ClickHouse query results back into operational tools, such as account-level usage metrics into a CRM.

Common sync patterns

A single customer view

Join Gong's relationship data with billing, product, and support data in ClickHouse to build the customer picture the CRM alone cannot hold.

Cleanup that sticks

Deduplication and normalization done in ClickHouse can be written back, so warehouse-side cleanup actually fixes the CRM.

CRM analytics on live data

Accounts, contacts, and activity from Gong are queryable in ClickHouse moments after they change, so dashboards stop lagging the reality they describe.

What you can sync between ClickHouse and Gong

Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.

ClickHouse objects Gong objects How this pairing syncs
Databases Namespaces that group tables and scope permissions for sync users. Users Gong users and team members with roles, titles, email, and settings, read via GET /v2/users to map call owners and participants to CRM and warehouse identities. Read-only. Databases is specific to ClickHouse and Users to Gong — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Views Saved queries used as curated, read-only sync sources. Interaction Stats (Activity) Aggregated talk/listen ratios, interaction stats, and day-by-day user activity retrieved via POST /v2/stats endpoints; read out for coaching and engagement reporting. Read-only. Views is specific to ClickHouse and Interaction Stats (Activity) to Gong — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Materialized views Insert-time transformations that reshape incoming synced rows into aggregates. Trackers & Scorecards Keyword and topic tracker definitions plus coaching scorecards, including answered scorecards, read from Settings as coaching and deal-risk signals. Read-only. Materialized views is specific to ClickHouse and Trackers & Scorecards to Gong — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Distributed tables Query-routing tables over cluster shards in self-managed deployments. CRM Objects Accounts, opportunities, stages, and users uploaded into Gong through the CRM integration API so CRM context appears alongside conversations. Write (upload) path. Distributed tables is specific to ClickHouse and CRM Objects to Gong — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Dictionaries In-memory lookup structures refreshed from external sources, sometimes fed by syncs. Library Call-library folders and folder content (curated calls and snippets) read via GET /v2/library/folders and /v2/library/folder-content. Read-only. Dictionaries is specific to ClickHouse and Library to Gong — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Tables (MergeTree family) Columnar, append-optimized tables that serve as the destination for high-volume sync loads. Data Privacy (Erasure) GDPR/CCPA deletion handled by POST /v2/data-privacy/erase-data-for-email, with data-for-email lookups on the read side; a write path used for compliance deletions. Tables (MergeTree family) is specific to ClickHouse and Data Privacy (Erasure) to Gong — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between ClickHouse and Gong

Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.

ClickHouse Gong Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls ClickHouse for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. No log-based CDC for consumers.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Gong through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Gong ClickHouse Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls Gong for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling POST /v2/calls/extensive on fromDateTime/toDateTime.

DeliveryEach detected change is applied to ClickHouse as a row-level write, with types converted between the two schemas.

Rate-limit considerations

  • Gong: 3 API calls per second and 10,000 calls per day per company by default; exceeding returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header, and limits can be raised by contacting Gong.

How the ClickHouse and Gong connectors work

ClickHouse

Integration surface
Native TCP protocol and HTTP interface; standard SQL dialect, with MySQL and PostgreSQL wire compatibility available
Authentication
Database credentials (username/password); ClickHouse Cloud issues per-service credentials over TLS
Change detection
No log-based CDC for consumers; incremental reads use polling on monotonic columns, and ClickHouse is usually the destination rather than the source
Capabilities
read · write

Gong

Integration surface
REST API on api.gong.io/v2 - retrieval endpoints (calls, transcript, users, stats, settings, library, logs) plus write endpoints for importing calls, uploading CRM data, and data-privacy erasure
Authentication
Basic authorization header combining an Access Key and Access Key Secret (created by a Gong technical admin, base64-encoded as key:secret); OAuth 2.0 Bearer tokens are supported for marketplace apps
Change detection
Polling POST /v2/calls/extensive on fromDateTime/toDateTime; the public API exposes no outbound webhooks or CDC, though a Gong admin can configure a product-side automation Rule that POSTs matching calls to a URL. Transcripts and analysis appear only after asynchronous processing.
Capabilities
read · write
Rate limits
3 API calls per second and 10,000 calls per day per company by default; exceeding returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header, and limits can be raised by contacting Gong.
