Why teams connect Clari and Ramp

Sync customers, invoices, and payment status between Ramp and Clari in real time, so sales sees the money and finance sees the relationship.

Finance and sales describe the same customers in different systems. Clari knows the relationship: who the contacts are and what is in motion with the account. Ramp knows the money: what was invoiced, what was paid, what is overdue. When the two are connected only by exports, each side works partly blind.

Stacksync links Users, Departments, Reimbursements, Bills in Ramp to Opportunities, Activity (Capture), Account field extensions, Opportunity field extensions in Clari with bi-directional, real-time sync. New customers, updated billing details, invoice status, and payment activity move in whichever direction you configure, field by field, with conflicts resolved by rules you set. The result is one version of each customer, visible from both sides.

Common use cases

  • 01 Read Reimbursements into a finance database for cross-entity expense reporting and reconciliation without manual CSV exports.
  • 02 Two-way sync Transactions and their accounting codings with a Postgres warehouse so finance analyzes spend in SQL and pushes GL categories and memos back to Ramp.
  • 03 Stream Audit Events into a reporting database to monitor forecast-submission changes and user activity for compliance.
  • 04 Pull Activity (Capture) meetings and emails, mapped to their accounts and opportunities, into a database for coverage and engagement analysis.

Common sync patterns

Billing detail changes flow back

When a contact or address is corrected in Clari, Ramp gets the update before the next invoice goes out.

Collections with context

Finance sees the account owner and relationship history from Clari when chasing a balance, and sales sees that the chase is happening.

Where Clari tracks deals: closed-won creates the finance record

A won opportunity creates or updates the customer in Ramp with the right billing details, so invoicing starts without re-keying.

What you can sync between Clari and Ramp

Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.

Clari objects Ramp objects How this pairing syncs
Opportunities Retrieved synchronously by ID from GET /opportunity (up to 100 IDs per call) with Clari CRM scoring and field-change history; read-only, mirroring the CRM opportunity Clari sits on. Users Employee and cardholder records; invited, updated, and deactivated, commonly synced from an HRIS or identity provider. Opportunities is specific to Clari and Users to Ramp — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Activity (Capture) Meetings, emails, and attachments captured by Clari and mapped to accounts and opportunities; exported read-only via async activity jobs. Departments Org groupings for cost-center and GL allocation; pushed from an ERP/HRIS and referenced by cards and transactions. Activity (Capture) is specific to Clari and Departments to Ramp — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Account field extensions External data points written onto Account records through the ingest API in initial or incremental mode; requires an apikey plus a partnerkey. Reimbursements Out-of-pocket expense claims; read for reporting and marked ready-to-sync then synced to the ERP. Account field extensions is specific to Clari and Reimbursements to Ramp — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Opportunity field extensions Warehouse-computed fields pushed onto Opportunity records via the ingest API; up to 100 records per request or 10MB bulk files. Bills Accounts-payable bills; created, updated, approved, and paid, then posted ready-to-sync and synced to accounting. Opportunity field extensions is specific to Clari and Bills to Ramp — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Audit Events User edits and system events exported with filtering by actor, session, and date range; read-only feed for change tracking and compliance. Vendors Supplier records under the accounting namespace; uploaded and updated for AP matching and payments. Audit Events is specific to Clari and Vendors to Ramp — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Forecast Exported per forecast tab and fiscal period via async jobs; includes submitted forecast calls, updates, manager adjustments, and CRM totals. Read-only. Funds (Spend Controls) Spend controls governing card usage; read and created via the funds API to enforce budgets per user, department, or program. Forecast is specific to Clari and Funds (Spend Controls) to Ramp — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between Clari and Ramp

Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.

Clari Ramp Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls Clari for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling — reads run as asynchronous export jobs (submit export, poll job status, download results).

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Ramp through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Ramp Clari Sub-second propagation

DetectionRamp notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. Signed webhooks (HMAC-SHA256 X-Ramp-Signature) for bill, transaction, reimbursement, vendor, and user events.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Clari through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Rate-limit considerations

  • Clari: Max 3 concurrent exports and roughly 1000 exports per rolling 30-day org window; ingestion capped at 100 requests/sec per API token.
  • Ramp: 200 requests per 10-second rolling window per source IP; exceeding it returns 429 Too Many Requests, and requests running over 60 seconds return 504. Results use keyset pagination (follow the page.next URL / start cursor); higher limits can be requested from support.

How the Clari and Ramp connectors work

Clari

Integration surface
REST APIs on api.clari.com - Export API (v4, asynchronous bulk jobs for forecast, quota, activity, and audit) and Ingest API (v2, field extensions); Opportunity reads are synchronous via GET /opportunity
Authentication
API token in the apikey header, generated per user in Settings; ingest/partner endpoints also require a partnerkey header, and Copilot endpoints require X-Api-Key and X-Api-Password
Change detection
Polling — reads run as asynchronous export jobs (submit export, poll job status, download results); the ingest API supports an incremental mode for regular field updates. No webhooks.
Capabilities
read · write
Rate limits
Max 3 concurrent exports and roughly 1000 exports per rolling 30-day org window; ingestion capped at 100 requests/sec per API token.

Ramp

Integration surface
REST API (Developer API v1)
Authentication
OAuth 2.0: exchange client_id/client_secret (HTTP Basic) at api.ramp.com/developer/v1/token for scoped bearer tokens; client_credentials grant for server-to-server and authorization_code for user-delegated access; scopes follow resource:permission (e.g. transactions:read, bills:write, accounting:write).
Change detection
Signed webhooks (HMAC-SHA256 X-Ramp-Signature) for bill, transaction, reimbursement, vendor, and user events; otherwise poll incrementally (synced_after on transactions, from_created_at on bills) with keyset pagination, or read the audit-logs/events feed.
Capabilities
read · write · webhooks
Rate limits
200 requests per 10-second rolling window per source IP; exceeding it returns 429 Too Many Requests, and requests running over 60 seconds return 504. Results use keyset pagination (follow the page.next URL / start cursor); higher limits can be requested from support.
