Why teams connect Quip and SuiteAnalytics

Flow SuiteAnalytics data into Quip in real time — no exports, no schedulers, no custom scripts.

SuiteAnalytics is a read-only source: Stacksync reads its data in real time and delivers it into Quip, so Quip always reflects the current state of SuiteAnalytics — without exports, scripts, or schedulers.

The ERP holds the records the business is run on, and it is rarely where day-to-day work happens. Quip is closer to the work, and the two often need the same facts about the same people, organizations, and transactions. Bridging them by hand, or by nightly file transfer, leaves each side out of date for hours at a time.

Common use cases

  • 01 Post a new_message into a linked Quip thread when a record changes in a CRM or ticketing system, notifying the account team where they plan.
  • 02 Mirror Documents and Spreadsheets into Postgres or a warehouse, keyed on thread ID and refreshed when updated_usec advances, for search and reporting on account plans and notes.
  • 03 Join ERP data with CRM data in Postgres for quote-to-cash and revenue visibility
  • 04 Give internal tools a read replica of item and inventory data without hitting SuiteScript governance limits

Common sync patterns

Where SuiteAnalytics is the HR or people system of record

Worker and organization data from SuiteAnalytics stays current in Quip, so the tools people use daily reflect the org as it actually is.

Master data corrections travel

A customer, supplier, or contact detail corrected in either system updates the other, ending duplicate maintenance.

Where Quip faces customers and SuiteAnalytics carries account records

Order, invoice, or account status from SuiteAnalytics appears alongside the customer in Quip, so front-line teams answer from live data.

What you can sync between Quip and SuiteAnalytics

Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.

Quip objects SuiteAnalytics objects How this pairing syncs
Documents Editable rich-text threads addressed by ID; created and updated over REST via HTML or Markdown sections, with an updated_usec timestamp used to detect edits. Price Level Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Documents is specific to Quip and Price Level to SuiteAnalytics — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Spreadsheets Live-spreadsheet threads; rows and cells are read and written through add_to_spreadsheet and update_spreadsheet_row helpers on the same thread endpoints. Term Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Spreadsheets is specific to Quip and Term to SuiteAnalytics — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Folders Private, Shared, and Group containers that organize threads; membership is added or removed via the folders endpoints for access control. Subsidiary Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Folders is specific to Quip and Subsidiary to SuiteAnalytics — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Messages Comments and chat posts on a thread; the most recent are read with get_messages and new ones written with new_message. All custom objects Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Messages is specific to Quip and All custom objects to SuiteAnalytics — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Users Member records read individually or via contacts; get_authenticated_user identifies the token owner. Used read-only for directory-style syncs. Nexus Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Users is specific to Quip and Nexus to SuiteAnalytics — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Blobs Images and file attachments stored per thread; downloaded with get_blob and uploaded with put_blob against a specific thread ID. Tax Type Synced with incremental and full sync per the Stacksync docs. Blobs is specific to Quip and Tax Type to SuiteAnalytics — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between Quip and SuiteAnalytics

Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.

Quip SuiteAnalytics Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls Quip for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling on thread updated_usec timestamps — get_recent_threads paginates by max_updated_usec.

DeliverySuiteAnalytics does not accept inbound record writes, so this direction carries requests rather than records: SuiteAnalytics's output flows back as field updates on the originating Quip records.

SuiteAnalytics Quip Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls SuiteAnalytics for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Quip through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Rate-limit considerations

  • Quip: Automation API allows roughly 50 requests per minute per access token; exceeding it returns HTTP 503, and responses carry X-RateLimit headers.
  • SuiteAnalytics: Concurrency and query load are governed by the NetSuite account's Connect service allowances rather than per-request rate limits.
