Why teams connect Egnyte and StarRocks

Bridge query-ready tables and stored files: StarRocks and Egnyte keep the same records in step, in real time, in both directions.

StarRocks keeps the tables and query results a business reports on; Egnyte keeps the raw files, documents, and objects that the same business produces and shares. The two overlap wherever a dataset lives as both — a file dropped in Egnyte that has to become rows in StarRocks, or a result in StarRocks that people downstream need back as a file in Egnyte. When that overlap is bridged by manual export and import or an overnight job, one side spends the day working from a stale copy.

Stacksync syncs Databases, Tables, Materialized views, Views in StarRocks with Groups, Permissions, Links, Metadata in Egnyte field by field, in real time, and in both directions. You decide which system owns which fields; Stacksync keeps every copy consistent and resolves conflicts by rules you set.

Common use cases

  • 01 Continuously apply upserts from operational databases into Primary Key tables to keep analytics current
  • 02 Serve customer-facing analytics from SaaS data synced into one analytical store
  • 03 Mirror folder Permissions from a directory or access-management system so entitlements stay consistent across teams.
  • 04 Stream Egnyte audit Events (file, login, permission, and Link changes) into a warehouse or SIEM for compliance and governance reporting.

Common sync patterns

Where StarRocks computes the labels: push them onto the files

Classifications, scores, or status derived in StarRocks are written back onto the matching Groups, Permissions, Links, Metadata in Egnyte as metadata or tags, so the file store reflects what analytics decided.

Where Egnyte receives the raw files: land them as query-ready rows

Files and exports that arrive in Egnyte are parsed into Databases, Tables, Materialized views, Views in StarRocks as they land, so analysts query current data instead of waiting on the next scheduled load.

Where Egnyte is the shared drive: publish results back as files

Curated tables and query results from StarRocks are written to Egnyte as files the rest of the business can open, keeping the shared copy current without a hand-run export.

What you can sync between Egnyte and StarRocks

Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.

Egnyte objects StarRocks objects How this pairing syncs
Metadata Custom metadata keys and project fields on files/folders via the Metadata API; written for classification and read back for reporting. Tables Defined with a table model (Primary Key, Unique Key, Aggregate, Duplicate Key) that determines update behavior. Metadata is specific to Egnyte and Tables to StarRocks — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Events and Audit reports File, login, permission, and sharing activity read via the Events API and Audit Reporting API; consumed read-only for compliance. Materialized views Automatically maintained rollups used to accelerate queries on synced data. Events and Audit reports is specific to Egnyte and Materialized views to StarRocks — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Files File content managed via the fs-content endpoint (upload/download, chunked for large files); synced two-way with other stores. Views Logical views for shaping analytical reads. Files is specific to Egnyte and Views to StarRocks — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Folders Folder hierarchy managed via the fs endpoint (create, move, rename, delete); the tree structure is mirrored during sync. Partitions Time or range partitions that scope loads and retention. Folders is specific to Egnyte and Partitions to StarRocks — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Users Accounts managed via the Users API; provisioned, updated, and deactivated in sync with an HRIS or identity provider. Columns Columnar storage with types mapped from source systems during sync. Users is specific to Egnyte and Columns to StarRocks — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Groups Groups and membership managed via the Groups API; kept aligned with directory or IdP groups that drive folder access. Databases Top-level namespaces addressed exactly as in MySQL clients. Groups is specific to Egnyte and Databases to StarRocks — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between Egnyte and StarRocks

Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.

Egnyte StarRocks Sub-second propagation

DetectionEgnyte notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. Events API polled with an incremental cursor (Egnyte recommends an interval of 5 minutes or more), or Webhooks push notifications for fs, metadata,.

DeliveryEach detected change is applied to StarRocks as a row-level write, with types converted between the two schemas.

StarRocks Egnyte Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls StarRocks for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Query-based polling when reading.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Egnyte through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Rate-limit considerations

  • Egnyte: Auto-generated keys default to 2 requests/second and 1,000 requests/day, enforced per access token; monitor X-Accesstoken-Qps-Current/Allotted and X-Accesstoken-Quota-Current headers; higher limits on request.
  • StarRocks: Ingestion throughput is bounded by cluster resources rather than API quotas.
