Why teams connect ClickHouse and Magento

Make ClickHouse the analytics and enrichment layer behind Magento: orders, products, and customers stay current in both directions.

ClickHouse is the analytical store where the business joins, models, and reports on its data; Magento runs the storefront, catalog, and transactions that generate most of it. The overlap is every record that has to be counted and enriched on one side and acted on the other — and when the bridge is a nightly export, the warehouse reports on yesterday while the store operates without the segments and metrics the warehouse just computed.

Stacksync syncs Dictionaries, Tables (MergeTree family), Databases, Views in ClickHouse with Inventory source items (MSI), Invoices, Shipments, Carts / quotes in Magento field by field, in real time, and in both directions. Transactional records land in the warehouse as they change, computed attributes and cleaned catalog data flow back to the store, and you decide which system owns which fields so Stacksync resolves conflicts by rules you set.

Common use cases

  • 01 Consolidate logs and business records from multiple sources into MergeTree tables for retention and reporting.
  • 02 Land product event data alongside synced CRM accounts so analysts join usage and revenue in one place.
  • 03 Master Products, prices, and Category assignments in an ERP or PIM and write them into Magento's catalog by SKU.
  • 04 Keep MSI inventory source-item quantities aligned between a WMS/ERP and Magento so storefront stock matches the warehouse.

Common sync patterns

One product catalog

Where both systems hold product or catalog data, cleaned and enriched attributes stay aligned so the store and the warehouse describe the same items.

Inventory and order status reconciled

Stock levels and order or fulfillment status move between ClickHouse and Magento so counts and states agree across reporting and operations.

One customer master

Where both systems keep customer records, corrections in either propagate to the other so analytics and the storefront share one identity.

What you can sync between ClickHouse and Magento

Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.

ClickHouse objects Magento objects How this pairing syncs
Views Saved queries used as curated, read-only sync sources. Customers Customer accounts and address book; synced two-way with a CRM so order history and contact records stay consistent. Views is specific to ClickHouse and Customers to Magento — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Materialized views Insert-time transformations that reshape incoming synced rows into aggregates. Inventory source items (MSI) Per-source stock quantities under Multi-Source Inventory; written from a WMS/ERP so storefront stock matches the warehouse. Materialized views is specific to ClickHouse and Inventory source items (MSI) to Magento — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Distributed tables Query-routing tables over cluster shards in self-managed deployments. Invoices Invoice documents tied to orders; read out for finance and revenue recognition, or created via the sales API when billing downstream. Distributed tables is specific to ClickHouse and Invoices to Magento — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Dictionaries In-memory lookup structures refreshed from external sources, sometimes fed by syncs. Shipments Shipment and tracking records against orders; created or read to drive fulfillment status between Magento and a 3PL/WMS. Dictionaries is specific to ClickHouse and Shipments to Magento — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Tables (MergeTree family) Columnar, append-optimized tables that serve as the destination for high-volume sync loads. Carts / quotes Active and guest carts (quotes) with items and totals; read for abandoned-cart analysis (not available on the Cloud Service subset). Tables (MergeTree family) is specific to ClickHouse and Carts / quotes to Magento — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Databases Namespaces that group tables and scope permissions for sync users. Products Catalog items keyed by SKU; carry created_at/updated_at for incremental polling and are written two-way from a PIM or ERP into the storefront. Databases is specific to ClickHouse and Products to Magento — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between ClickHouse and Magento

Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.

ClickHouse Magento Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls ClickHouse for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. No log-based CDC for consumers.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Magento through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Magento ClickHouse Sub-second propagation

DetectionMagento notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. Polling with searchCriteria filters on updated_at (catalog, sales, and customer entities carry created_at/updated_at).

DeliveryEach detected change is applied to ClickHouse as a row-level write, with types converted between the two schemas.

Rate-limit considerations

  • Magento: No fixed request-per-minute cap on PaaS/on-prem; responses page via searchCriteria pageSize/currentPage under a default maximum page size of 300 (Web API Input Limits), with /async/bulk endpoints for large writes.

How the ClickHouse and Magento connectors work

ClickHouse

Integration surface
Native TCP protocol and HTTP interface; standard SQL dialect, with MySQL and PostgreSQL wire compatibility available
Authentication
Database credentials (username/password); ClickHouse Cloud issues per-service credentials over TLS
Change detection
No log-based CDC for consumers; incremental reads use polling on monotonic columns, and ClickHouse is usually the destination rather than the source
Capabilities
read · write

Magento

Integration surface
REST and GraphQL Web APIs (SOAP also available)
Authentication
Token-based OAuth: an integration's access token (consumer key/secret + access token/secret) or a Bearer admin token (default 4-hour expiry); Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service authenticates via Adobe IMS (OAuth 2)
Change detection
Polling with searchCriteria filters on updated_at (catalog, sales, and customer entities carry created_at/updated_at); optional near-real-time via the Adobe Commerce Webhooks / Adobe I/O Events modules (order/created, product/updated, customer/created)
Capabilities
read · write · webhooks
Rate limits
No fixed request-per-minute cap on PaaS/on-prem; responses page via searchCriteria pageSize/currentPage under a default maximum page size of 300 (Web API Input Limits), with /async/bulk endpoints for large writes.
