Why teams connect Clari and Iterable

Keep the people you sell to and the people you market to in one shared view: Clari and Iterable sync contacts, accounts, and engagement in real time, in both directions.

Clari owns the customer relationship and the pipeline; Iterable runs the campaigns, audiences, and outreach that fill it. The two overlap on the same people and companies — a lead in one system is a subscriber, a segment member, an event registrant, or an ad audience in the other. When that overlap is bridged by CSV exports or a nightly job, sales works from lists that no longer match reality and marketing keeps targeting people whose status has already moved on.

Stacksync syncs Audit Events, Forecast, Quota, Opportunities in Clari with Users, Events, Campaigns, Templates in Iterable field by field, in real time, and in both directions. You decide which system owns which fields — Clari can own account and opportunity status while Iterable owns engagement and campaign membership — and Stacksync keeps every copy consistent and resolves conflicts by rules you set.

Common use cases

  • 01 Enrich Clari Account records with firmographic or billing data points through the ingest API in incremental mode.
  • 02 Stream Audit Events into a reporting database to monitor forecast-submission changes and user activity for compliance.
  • 03 Export Iterable engagement data (emailSend, emailOpen, emailClick, emailBounce, purchase) into a warehouse for deliverability and campaign reporting.
  • 04 Stream Iterable System Webhook events into a database in near real time so opens, clicks, bounces, and unsubscribes land alongside CRM contact records.

Common sync patterns

Where Iterable generates leads: hand-off without re-keying

New leads or responders captured in Iterable flow into Clari assigned and deduplicated, so nothing sits in a marketing list waiting for someone to export it.

New and updated people stay in step

When a contact or lead is created or edited in either system, the matching record appears or updates in the other, so campaigns reach real people and reps see who is already being marketed to.

Where Iterable captures engagement: activity lands on the record

Opens, clicks, form fills, event attendance, or ad responses recorded in Iterable post back to the contact or account in Clari, so reps see interest before they reach out.

What you can sync between Clari and Iterable

Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.

Clari objects Iterable objects How this pairing syncs
Opportunities Retrieved synchronously by ID from GET /opportunity (up to 100 IDs per call) with Clari CRM scoring and field-change history; read-only, mirroring the CRM opportunity Clari sits on. Templates Reusable email/SMS/push/in-app message templates with handlebars fields; read via /api/templates and per-channel get endpoints, written via /api/templates/email/upsert and the other channel upserts. Opportunities is specific to Clari and Templates to Iterable — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Activity (Capture) Meetings, emails, and attachments captured by Clari and mapped to accounts and opportunities; exported read-only via async activity jobs. Lists Static subscriber lists; read via GET /api/lists and /api/lists/getUsers, with users added or removed via /api/lists/subscribe and /api/lists/unsubscribe to control who receives a send. Activity (Capture) is specific to Clari and Lists to Iterable — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Account field extensions External data points written onto Account records through the ingest API in initial or incremental mode; requires an apikey plus a partnerkey. Catalogs Named catalogs of items (products, content) used for personalization and recommendations; items upserted and read via /api/catalogs/{catalogName}/items. Account field extensions is specific to Clari and Catalogs to Iterable — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Opportunity field extensions Warehouse-computed fields pushed onto Opportunity records via the ingest API; up to 100 records per request or 10MB bulk files. Commerce / Purchases Purchase and cart activity tracked via /api/commerce/trackPurchase and /api/commerce/updateCart, feeding revenue attribution and abandoned-cart journeys. Opportunity field extensions is specific to Clari and Commerce / Purchases to Iterable — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Audit Events User edits and system events exported with filtering by actor, session, and date range; read-only feed for change tracking and compliance. Export data Historical user and event records pulled through the Export API (/api/export/data.json, data.csv, and userEvents) across data types like emailSend, emailOpen, emailClick, emailBounce, purchase, and customEvent. Audit Events is specific to Clari and Export data to Iterable — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Forecast Exported per forecast tab and fiscal period via async jobs; includes submitted forecast calls, updates, manager adjustments, and CRM totals. Read-only. Users User profiles keyed by email or userId with custom data fields; upserted via POST /api/users/update, read via GET /api/users/{email} or getByUserId, bulk-written via /api/users/bulkUpdate (up to 1000 users per call), and deleted or GDPR-forgotten. Forecast is specific to Clari and Users to Iterable — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between Clari and Iterable

Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.

Clari Iterable Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls Clari for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling — reads run as asynchronous export jobs (submit export, poll job status, download results).

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Iterable through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Iterable Clari Sub-second propagation

DetectionIterable notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. System Webhooks push email/SMS/push/in-app and custom events (send, open, click, bounce, complaint, unsubscribe) as JSON POSTs in near real time.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Clari through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Rate-limit considerations

  • Clari: Max 3 concurrent exports and roughly 1000 exports per rolling 30-day org window; ingestion capped at 100 requests/sec per API token.
  • Iterable: Limits are per endpoint and per project/key; exceeding one returns HTTP 429, so exponential backoff is advised. Event tracking allows far higher volume than metadata endpoints like campaigns/templates, and the Export API is throttled more tightly. Since Nov 10, 2025, passing the key in the query string or body is rate-limited more strictly than the Api-Key header.

How the Clari and Iterable connectors work

Clari

Integration surface
REST APIs on api.clari.com - Export API (v4, asynchronous bulk jobs for forecast, quota, activity, and audit) and Ingest API (v2, field extensions); Opportunity reads are synchronous via GET /opportunity
Authentication
API token in the apikey header, generated per user in Settings; ingest/partner endpoints also require a partnerkey header, and Copilot endpoints require X-Api-Key and X-Api-Password
Change detection
Polling — reads run as asynchronous export jobs (submit export, poll job status, download results); the ingest API supports an incremental mode for regular field updates. No webhooks.
Capabilities

Rate limits
Max 3 concurrent exports and roughly 1000 exports per rolling 30-day org window; ingestion capped at 100 requests/sec per API token.

Iterable

Integration surface
Iterable REST API (JSON over HTTPS): Users, Events, Campaigns, Templates, Lists, Catalogs, and Commerce endpoints, plus a bulk Export API for historical data
Authentication
API key sent in the Api-Key HTTP header (also accepted as Api_Key; the name is case-insensitive). Keys are scoped by type - Server-side, JavaScript (Web SDK), or Mobile - with optional JWT-enabled keys. US projects use api.iterable.com; EU projects use api.eu.iterable.com.
Change detection
System Webhooks push email/SMS/push/in-app and custom events (send, open, click, bounce, complaint, unsubscribe) as JSON POSTs in near real time; historical backfill and incremental catch-up run through the Export API over a date range.
Capabilities

Rate limits
Limits are per endpoint and per project/key; exceeding one returns HTTP 429, so exponential backoff is advised. Event tracking allows far higher volume than metadata endpoints like campaigns/templates, and the Export API is throttled more tightly.
