Xactly holds the customer relationship as structured records; Amazon S3 holds the files that belong to those relationships, from contracts and proposals to signed agreements and statements of work. The two are linked in practice and disconnected in software: someone downloads a document, renames it, and uploads it to the right folder, or exports records out to storage for retention. Done by hand, files drift away from the records they belong to and copies fall out of date.

Stacksync keeps Orders, Credits, Transactions (Commission & Bonus), Participants (Payees) in Xactly aligned with Object tags, Object versions, Prefixes (folders), Multipart uploads in Amazon S3, in real time. A new account or deal can open its own folder in Amazon S3; a document filed in Amazon S3 can surface as a link and metadata on the matching record in Xactly; and records from Xactly can be written into Amazon S3 as files or objects for backup, archival, and compliance. You choose which side owns what, and Stacksync keeps the two consistent as either one changes.

Attachments that accumulate against a record in Xactly collect in that customer's folder in Amazon S3, so the full document history lives in one place and is reachable by anyone who needs it.

When an account or deal is created in Xactly, a matching folder or container opens in Amazon S3, named and organized the same way, so files have a home the moment they are needed.

Documents linked back to the record

A contract, proposal, or signed agreement filed in Amazon S3 surfaces as a link on the matching record in Xactly, so the customer's paperwork sits with the relationship instead of a shared drive.

Objects Files stored under a key; content is read with GET and written with PUT, and each object's key/size/ETag/LastModified is the unit indexed into a database. Quotas / Targets Period quota and target values per position or plan; loaded from planning tools through Connect (write) and read for attainment reporting, so read and write. Objects is specific to Amazon S3 and Quotas / Targets to Xactly — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Object metadata System metadata (Content-Type, size, ETag, LastModified) plus user-defined x-amz-meta-* headers; user metadata is fixed at write time and only changeable by rewriting the object. Payment Summary (Payable) Approved payable amounts per participant per period; read as the output that feeds payroll and accounts payable, so effectively read-only. Object metadata is specific to Amazon S3 and Payment Summary (Payable) to Xactly — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Object tags Up to 10 key-value tags per object, mutable in place via the tagging API independent of content, so classification and retention labels sync two-way without rewriting files. Products & Customers Product and customer/account master used in crediting rules and reporting; loaded and updated from CRM/ERP through Connect (write) and read for lookups, so read and write. Object tags is specific to Amazon S3 and Products & Customers to Xactly — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Object versions When bucket versioning is enabled every write creates a new version ID; prior versions and delete markers are readable for history and audit syncs. Orders Sales order and transaction records loaded into Incent as the raw input for crediting and calculation; created and updated through Connect load and ETL steps (write) and read back for reconciliation, so read and write. Object versions is specific to Amazon S3 and Orders to Xactly — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between Amazon S3 and Xactly

Amazon S3 Xactly Sub-second propagation

DetectionAmazon S3 notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. S3 Event Notifications push object-created, object-removed, and object-tagging events to SNS, SQS, Lambda, or EventBridge.

DeliveryEach detected change is applied to Xactly as a row-level write, with types converted between the two schemas.

Xactly Amazon S3 Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls Xactly for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. No CDC log for external tools to consume.

Rate-limit considerations

  • Amazon S3: S3 sustains at least 3,500 PUT/COPY/POST/DELETE and 5,500 GET/HEAD requests per second per partitioned prefix and scales higher automatically; bursts can return HTTP 503 SlowDown while it repartitions.
  • Xactly: Xactly does not publish numeric per-second rate limits. The Connect platform enforces query concurrency and long-running-query limits, so large extracts are paged and heavy loads/queries run as asynchronous Connect jobs (submit, then retrieve results) rather than row-by-row calls; batch loads are the supported path for high volume.

Xactly

Integration surface
Xactly Connect REST API v2 (JSON), plus ODBC/JDBC drivers over the same ANSI-SQL data model. Incent data is exposed as SQL-queryable objects (for example xactly_order, xactly_credit, xactly_transaction, xactly_payment); data is loaded and extracted through Connect load/query steps and server-side ETL Pipelines. The base host is region/pod-specific (for example https://<pod>.xactlycorp.com).
Authentication
OAuth 2.0 via the Xactly Connect API Gateway (bearer tokens issued on behalf of an Xactly Incent user), with HTTP Basic authentication using a dedicated Xactly Connect service-user's credentials also supported for the Connect REST API v2. The connecting user needs Connect/API access plus the relevant object permissions in Incent.
Change detection
No CDC log for external tools to consume. Incremental sync uses SQL predicates on modified/last-updated timestamp columns (for example WHERE modified_date > watermark) against Connect's queryable objects, or scheduled Connect ETL Pipelines that pull deltas since the last run. Xactly Connect has no outbound HTTP webhooks, so change detection is pull/ETL-based.
