Why teams connect Gong and Sharepoint

Keep the paperwork with the relationship: Gong and Sharepoint share every customer's records and files in real time, in both directions.

Gong holds the customer relationship as structured records; Sharepoint holds the files that belong to those relationships, from contracts and proposals to signed agreements and statements of work. The two are linked in practice and disconnected in software: someone downloads a document, renames it, and uploads it to the right folder, or exports records out to storage for retention. Done by hand, files drift away from the records they belong to and copies fall out of date.

Stacksync keeps Users, Interaction Stats (Activity), Trackers & Scorecards, CRM Objects in Gong aligned with Lists, List items, Drive items (document libraries), Columns and content types in Sharepoint, in real time. A new account or deal can open its own folder in Sharepoint; a document filed in Sharepoint can surface as a link and metadata on the matching record in Gong; and records from Gong can be written into Sharepoint as files or objects for backup, archival, and compliance. You choose which side owns what, and Stacksync keeps the two consistent as either one changes.

Common use cases

  • 01 Pull call Transcripts by callId into a warehouse or vector store to power search, RAG, and deal-review summaries over what was said on calls.
  • 02 Sync Interaction Stats such as talk ratios and per-rep activity into a coaching database for engagement and rep-performance dashboards.
  • 03 Sync list columns and content types so database fields map onto SharePoint list fields and schema stays aligned as either side changes.
  • 04 Provision site and item permissions and sharing links from an IdP or access-management system so SharePoint access follows onboarding and offboarding.

Common sync patterns

A folder per account or deal

When an account or deal is created in Gong, a matching folder or container opens in Sharepoint, named and organized the same way, so files have a home the moment they are needed.

Documents linked back to the record

A contract, proposal, or signed agreement filed in Sharepoint surfaces as a link on the matching record in Gong, so the customer's paperwork sits with the relationship instead of a shared drive.

CRM records archived into storage

Records from Gong are written into Sharepoint as files or objects on the schedule you set, giving you a durable copy for backup, retention, and compliance without an export to run by hand.

What you can sync between Gong and Sharepoint

Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.

Gong objects Sharepoint objects How this pairing syncs
CRM Objects Accounts, opportunities, stages, and users uploaded into Gong through the CRM integration API so CRM context appears alongside conversations. Write (upload) path. Lists Custom lists and libraries via /sites/{id}/lists; create and read lists along with their columns and content types so a target system can mirror or provision list definitions. CRM Objects is specific to Gong and Lists to Sharepoint — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Library Call-library folders and folder content (curated calls and snippets) read via GET /v2/library/folders and /v2/library/folder-content. Read-only. List items Rows in a SharePoint list via /lists/{id}/items with a fields facet of column values; full create, read, update, and delete, synced two-way with database rows. Library is specific to Gong and List items to Sharepoint — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Data Privacy (Erasure) GDPR/CCPA deletion handled by POST /v2/data-privacy/erase-data-for-email, with data-for-email lookups on the read side; a write path used for compliance deletions. Drive items (document libraries) Files and folders in a library's drive via /drives and /drive/root; upload, download, move, delete, and read per-item metadata, synced two-way with a store. Data Privacy (Erasure) is specific to Gong and Drive items (document libraries) to Sharepoint — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Calls Retrieved via POST /v2/calls/extensive with participants, topics, trackers, scorecards, and media URLs, filtered by fromDateTime/toDateTime; external recordings are also imported via POST /v2/calls with media uploaded via PUT /v2/calls/{id}/media. Read and write. Columns and content types Field definitions and content types on a site or list; read the schema and create columns so database fields map cleanly onto SharePoint list fields. Calls is specific to Gong and Columns and content types to Sharepoint — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Transcripts Speaker-attributed, timestamped sentences retrieved via POST /v2/calls/transcript for one or more callIds; available only after asynchronous processing completes. Read-only. Permissions and sharing Role assignments and sharing links on sites, list items, and drive items; read and written to manage access, requiring Sites.Manage.All or Sites.FullControl.All scopes. Transcripts is specific to Gong and Permissions and sharing to Sharepoint — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.
Users Gong users and team members with roles, titles, email, and settings, read via GET /v2/users to map call owners and participants to CRM and warehouse identities. Read-only. Site pages Modern site pages via /sites/{id}/pages; read page content, layout, and metadata for indexing and content governance. Users is specific to Gong and Site pages to Sharepoint — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side.

How changes propagate between Gong and Sharepoint

Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.

Gong Sharepoint Interval-based propagation

DetectionStacksync polls Gong for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling POST /v2/calls/extensive on fromDateTime/toDateTime.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Sharepoint through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Sharepoint Gong Sub-second propagation

DetectionSharepoint notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. Delta query (pull) tracks created, updated, and deleted list items (/lists/{id}/items/delta) and drive items (/drives/{id}/root/delta) since the last.

DeliveryEach detected change is written to Gong through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.

Rate-limit considerations

  • Gong: 3 API calls per second and 10,000 calls per day per company by default; exceeding returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header, and limits can be raised by contacting Gong.
  • Sharepoint: SharePoint Online throttles per app, returning HTTP 429 (or 503) with a Retry-After header in seconds and IETF RateLimit-Limit, RateLimit-Remaining, and RateLimit-Reset headers; throttled requests still count toward limits, so clients honor the greater of Retry-After and RateLimit-Reset with exponential backoff.

How the Gong and Sharepoint connectors work

Gong

Integration surface
REST API on api.gong.io/v2 - retrieval endpoints (calls, transcript, users, stats, settings, library, logs) plus write endpoints for importing calls, uploading CRM data, and data-privacy erasure
Authentication
Basic authorization header combining an Access Key and Access Key Secret (created by a Gong technical admin, base64-encoded as key:secret); OAuth 2.0 Bearer tokens are supported for marketplace apps
Change detection
Polling POST /v2/calls/extensive on fromDateTime/toDateTime; the public API exposes no outbound webhooks or CDC, though a Gong admin can configure a product-side automation Rule that POSTs matching calls to a URL. Transcripts and analysis appear only after asynchronous processing.
Capabilities
read · write
Rate limits
3 API calls per second and 10,000 calls per day per company by default; exceeding returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header, and limits can be raised by contacting Gong.

Sharepoint

Integration surface
Microsoft Graph REST API (graph.microsoft.com/v1.0 and beta) covering SharePoint sites, lists, list items, columns, content types, and document-library drives and drive items; plus the classic SharePoint REST API (_api/web) and CSOM. Supports Graph JSON $batch (up to 20 requests per call).
Authentication
OAuth 2.0 via the Microsoft identity platform (Microsoft Entra ID). An app registration holds delegated or application (app-only) scopes such as Sites.Read.All, Sites.ReadWrite.All, Sites.Selected, Sites.Manage.All, or Sites.FullControl.All, plus Files.ReadWrite.All for drive content; application permissions require tenant admin consent.
Change detection
Delta query (pull) tracks created, updated, and deleted list items (/lists/{id}/items/delta) and drive items (/drives/{id}/root/delta) since the last deltaLink; change-notification subscriptions (push webhooks) POST near-real-time notifications for list and drive/root changes to a notification URL and must be renewed before they expire. Classic SharePoint list webhooks are also available.
Capabilities
read · write · webhooks
Rate limits
SharePoint Online throttles per app, returning HTTP 429 (or 503) with a Retry-After header in seconds and IETF RateLimit-Limit, RateLimit-Remaining, and RateLimit-Reset headers; throttled requests still count toward limits, so clients honor the greater of Retry-After and RateLimit-Reset with exponential backoff.
