Two-way sync
Changes in Azure Synapse Analytics or Marketo instantly reflect in both systems. No stale data, no manual imports.
Keep Azure Synapse Analytics and Marketo in sync without custom scripts. Cut weeks of integration work, eliminate silent data drift, and give your team a single, reliable source of truth.
Azure Synapse Analytics is where your team models customers, product usage, and revenue into trusted tables; Marketo runs the campaigns, audiences, and messages that reach those people. The two overlap wherever the same person, account, or segment matters to both, and when the bridge between them is a nightly export or a hand-built list, marketing targets stale data while analytics never sees what the campaign returned.
Stacksync syncs External tables, Views, Schemas, Materialized views in Azure Synapse Analytics with Programs and Program Members, Smart Campaigns, Leads, Companies in Marketo field by field, in real time, and in both directions. You decide which system owns which fields — a computed score or segment can flow out to Marketo while sends, opens, and conversions flow back to Azure Synapse Analytics — and Stacksync keeps every copy consistent and resolves conflicts by rules you set.
Product-usage counts, plan tier, region, or account owner computed in Azure Synapse Analytics appear on the matching record in Marketo, so targeting, routing, and personalization use up-to-date context.
A segment or score built in Azure Synapse Analytics — high-intent accounts, churn risk, a lifetime-value tier — lands as an audience or contact field in Marketo, so campaigns target the people your data actually points to instead of a static export.
New and updated contacts, leads, or audience members flow between Azure Synapse Analytics and Marketo, so the marketing audience reflects the people in your warehouse and corrections propagate instead of the two sides drifting apart.
Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.
| Azure Synapse Analytics objects | Marketo objects | How this pairing syncs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| External tables Tables over files in the data lake, queried through serverless SQL and often read-only in syncs. | Static Lists Named static lists; read via /rest/v1/lists.json, with Leads added or removed via POST and DELETE on /rest/v1/lists/{listId}/leads.json to control campaign membership from lifecycle logic computed downstream. | External tables is specific to Azure Synapse Analytics and Static Lists to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Views Curated projections used when downstream tools should not read base tables directly. | Programs and Program Members Marketing programs read via /rest/v1/programs.json; program membership and member status managed via /rest/v1/leads/programs/{programId}.json and the program status endpoint for acquisition and attribution reporting. | Views is specific to Azure Synapse Analytics and Programs and Program Members to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Schemas Namespaces that separate staging, integration, and presentation layers. | Smart Campaigns Automation flows read via /rest/v1/campaigns.json and run against a set of Leads by requesting a trigger campaign with POST /rest/v1/campaigns/{id}/trigger.json, so downstream logic can push Leads into a Marketo flow. | Schemas is specific to Azure Synapse Analytics and Smart Campaigns to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Materialized views Precomputed aggregates that speed reads of frequently synced result sets. | Leads Core person records (called Leads/People), deduped on email address by default or a configured dedupe field; read via GET /rest/v1/leads.json with a filterType, upserted via POST /rest/v1/leads.json (action createOrUpdate/createOnly/updateOnly), bulk-imported via CSV through POST /bulk/v1/leads.json, and bulk-exported via /bulk/v1/leads/export/create.json. | Materialized views is specific to Azure Synapse Analytics and Leads to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| SQL pools Dedicated or serverless compute contexts that determine how and where queries run. | Companies Company records linked to Leads via a company link field; read and upserted through /rest/v1/companies.json, typically mastered in a CRM or ERP and written into Marketo for account context. | SQL pools is specific to Azure Synapse Analytics and Companies to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Tables (dedicated SQL pool) Distributed warehouse tables that serve as sync destinations for analytics workloads. | Opportunities and Opportunity Roles Revenue objects synced via /rest/v1/opportunities.json and /rest/v1/opportunities/roles.json; roles associate an opportunity with a Lead, so pipeline data can drive nurture and scoring. | Tables (dedicated SQL pool) is specific to Azure Synapse Analytics and Opportunities and Opportunity Roles to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. |
Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.
DetectionStacksync polls Azure Synapse Analytics for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling on watermark columns.
DeliveryEach detected change is written to Marketo through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.
DetectionStacksync polls Marketo for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling: Get Lead Changes and Get Lead Activities from a paging token seeded by a sinceDatetime, plus Get Deleted Leads, or Bulk Extract filtered on.
DeliveryEach detected change is applied to Azure Synapse Analytics as a row-level write, with types converted between the two schemas.

Yes. Stacksync provides a managed, real-time two-way integration between Azure Synapse Analytics and Marketo: authenticate both systems, choose the objects to sync (such as Azure Synapse Analytics's External tables and Views), map fields visually, and changes propagate both ways in milliseconds — no code required.
Common patterns for Azure Synapse Analytics and Marketo: Enrich records with warehouse context; Activate a modeled audience; Keep the contact and audience list current. Product-usage counts, plan tier, region, or account owner computed in Azure Synapse Analytics appear on the matching record in Marketo, so targeting, routing, and personalization use up-to-date context.
Azure Synapse Analytics: SQL wire protocol (TDS) with T-SQL for SQL pools; additional Spark and pipeline surfaces exist but syncs use the SQL endpoint. Authentication: SQL authentication or Microsoft Entra ID. Marketo: Marketo REST API (JSON over HTTPS) for Leads, Companies, Opportunities, Custom Objects, Activities, Lists, Programs, and Campaigns, plus an asynchronous Bulk Import (leads) and Bulk Extract (leads/activities/program members/custom objects) API and an Asset REST API for emails, forms, and landing pages. Authentication: OAuth 2.0 client_credentials (2-legged): GET the Identity URL /oauth/token?grant_type=client_credentials with a Custom Service client_id and client_secret to receive an access token valid for 3600 seconds, then send it as Authorization: Bearer on each call. The instance base URL is https://{munchkinId}.mktorest.com; passing the token as an access_token query parameter is deprecated (removal July 31, 2026). Stacksync manages authentication, retries, and rate limits on both sides.
Azure Synapse Analytics: The serverless SQL pool queries files in the data lake directly, so some 'tables' a sync sees are projections over Parquet or CSV rather than managed storage. Marketo: Interactive calls are limited to 100 per 20 seconds (error 606) and 10 concurrent calls (error 615) per instance, neither of which can be increased, under a default 50,000-calls-per-day quota that resets at midnight CST. Stacksync's field mapping accounts for these differences between Azure Synapse Analytics and Marketo without custom code.
