Two-way sync
Changes in Asana or Snowflake instantly reflect in both systems. No stale data, no manual imports.
Keep Asana and Snowflake in sync without custom scripts. Cut weeks of integration work, eliminate silent data drift, and give your team a single, reliable source of truth.
Whatever Asana is used for, it accumulates data the rest of the company wants to analyze, and that data usually sits behind an API rather than in the warehouse. Building and babysitting an extraction pipeline is the tax most teams pay for it.
Stacksync syncs Tasks, Projects, Sections, Custom fields from Asana into tables in Snowflake continuously, handling schema, rate limits, and retries. Because the sync is bi-directional, results computed in Snowflake can also be written back into fields in Asana where the tool can use them.
Segments, scores, or reference values computed in Snowflake sync back onto records in Asana, putting analysis where the work happens.
A continuously synced copy in Snowflake preserves a queryable record even as data ages out of Asana or gets changed inside it.
Records and events from Asana land in Snowflake as queryable tables, current within seconds and ready to join with the rest of the warehouse.
Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.
| Asana objects | Snowflake objects | How this pairing syncs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tasks The primary unit of work and main record; created, updated, completed, and deleted via REST and synced two-way. Subtasks are Tasks with a parent reference. | Tasks Scheduled SQL used to transform synced data after it lands. | Same entity on both sides — records pair one-to-one and field-level changes reconcile in both directions. | |
| Stories Comments and activity entries on a Task; read out for history and reporting or written back as comments. | Materialized Views Precomputed results synced outward for low-latency reads. | Stories is specific to Asana and Materialized Views to Snowflake — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Users Members of a workspace or organization referenced by assignee and follower fields; read to resolve GIDs to names and emails. | Streams Row-level change records on a table, consumed to process deltas instead of full scans. | Users is specific to Asana and Streams to Snowflake — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Portfolios Collections of Projects for program-level rollup; read for cross-project status and progress reporting (Business and Enterprise). | Stages File staging areas used for bulk loads into synced tables. | Portfolios is specific to Asana and Stages to Snowflake — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Tags Labels applied across Tasks; synced as a many-to-many attribute for filtering and categorization. | VARIANT Columns Semi-structured JSON payloads stored alongside relational columns. | Tags is specific to Asana and VARIANT Columns to Snowflake — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Teams / Workspaces Organizational containers that hold projects and members; used to scope which projects a given sync covers. | Virtual Warehouses The compute a sync's queries run on, sized independently of storage. | Teams / Workspaces is specific to Asana and Virtual Warehouses to Snowflake — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. |
Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.
DetectionAsana notifies Stacksync of record changes through webhook events. Resource-scoped webhooks (established with an X-Hook-Secret handshake) POST events on create, change, and delete.
DeliveryEach detected change is applied to Snowflake as a row-level write, with types converted between the two schemas.
DetectionChanges in Snowflake are captured at the source via change data capture — no polling loop against its API. The setup script grants "create stream" on synced schemas (Snowflake streams), but the docs do not name the change-capture mechanism.
DeliveryEach detected change is written to Asana through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.
Real-time sync, workflow automation, event queues, EDI, and monitoring, for every Asana–Snowflake connection.
Changes in Asana or Snowflake instantly reflect in both systems. No stale data, no manual imports.
Trigger automated workflows whenever Asana or Snowflake data changes, update records, fire webhooks, or kick off sequences without brittle API scripts.
Handle millions of events per minute without losing a single Asana or Snowflake record.
Track your Asana ⇄ Snowflake sync health, view errors, and replay failed events in one click.
Transform legacy EDI complexity into simple database interactions between Asana and Snowflake.
Configure and sync within minutes, no code. Whether you sync 50k or 100M+ records, Stacksync handles the queues, infra, and plumbing. Integrations are non-invasive and need zero setup on your systems.
Authenticate Asana and Snowflake with each platform's native method — OAuth, API keys, or service accounts — plus secure options like SSH tunneling, IP whitelisting, and VPC peering.
Pick the Asana and Snowflake objects to sync — Stacksync auto-detects both schemas, including custom fields where the platform exposes them. Sync to existing tables, or let Stacksync create new ones with ideal data types.
Fields map automatically even when names and types differ. Stacksync handles transformation and type casting for you, zero configuration required.
Yes. Stacksync provides a managed, real-time two-way integration between Asana and Snowflake: authenticate both systems, choose the objects to sync (such as Asana's Tasks and Stories), map fields visually, and changes propagate both ways in milliseconds — no code required.
Asana: REST API (app.asana.com/api/1.0, JSON responses), plus resource-scoped Webhooks and a sync-token Events API. Authentication: OAuth 2.0 for multi-user apps, Personal Access Tokens (PATs) for single-account use and testing, and organization-scoped Service Accounts (Enterprise) for admin-level access. Snowflake: SQL via JDBC/ODBC and native drivers, plus the Snowflake SQL REST API. Authentication: Dedicated Snowflake service user + role with RSA key-pair authentication (Stacksync-provided public key), created via a setup script requiring SECURITY_ADMIN and ACCOUNTADMIN roles. Stacksync manages authentication, retries, and rate limits on both sides.
Asana: Rate limits are per token: 1,500 requests/minute on paid plans and 150 on free, with the Search API capped at 60/minute; hitting a limit returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header. Snowflake: Views (materialized and non-materialized) are not yet supported (coming soon). Stacksync's field mapping accounts for these differences between Asana and Snowflake without custom code.
Stacksync is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified with HIPAA BAA support. Data is encrypted in transit, and a zero-persistent-storage architecture means Asana and Snowflake records are not retained after a sync operation.
Stacksync pricing is usage-based and starts at $1,000/month, including the managed Asana and Snowflake connectors, real-time two-way sync, monitoring, and support. That replaces building and maintaining a custom Asana–Snowflake integration in-house.
Yes — Stacksync ships production-grade connectors for both Asana and Snowflake. The connectors handle authentication, schema detection, rate limits, and retries; you configure the sync, and Stacksync operates it.
As a data company, we understand the importance of keeping your data secure. Stacksync is built with security best practices to keep your data safe at every layer, and is DPF-certified for US, EU, UK and CH data transfers.
