Two-way sync
Changes in Amazon RDS or Marketo instantly reflect in both systems. No stale data, no manual imports.
Keep Amazon RDS and Marketo in sync without custom scripts. Cut weeks of integration work, eliminate silent data drift, and give your team a single, reliable source of truth.
Marketo holds the people, audiences, and campaign activity that marketing runs on, but that data sits behind interfaces built for marketers, not for your internal systems. Engineers and analysts who need contacts, list membership, or engagement, for reporting, attribution, or product logic, end up writing integration code against a rate-limited API and maintaining it forever. Meanwhile the customer and usage data marketers want for targeting already lives in Amazon RDS, hard to get into campaigns without manual exports.
Stacksync mirrors Leads, Companies, Opportunities and Opportunity Roles, Custom Objects from Marketo into Schemas, Tables, Views, Columns in Amazon RDS field by field, in real time, and in both directions. Marketing records become rows your code can query and join with product and customer data; audiences and attributes computed in Amazon RDS, from usage, orders, or account status, sync back into Marketo to drive campaigns and ads, with Marketo kept authoritative for engagement. You decide which side owns which fields, and Stacksync resolves conflicts by rules you set.
Lifecycle stage, subscription status, or plan maintained on either side stays current on the other, ending exports and dual data entry.
Contacts, leads, audiences, and campaign metrics from Marketo live in Amazon RDS as ordinary tables or collections, joinable with the rest of your data and reachable without touching the vendor API.
Segments computed in Amazon RDS from product usage, orders, or account status sync into Marketo as lists or audiences, so campaigns and ads target the people your data says they should.
Representative objects on each side — any object or custom field can map to any target. Schemas are auto-detected; types are converted between the two systems.
| Amazon RDS objects | Marketo objects | How this pairing syncs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Columns Field-level mapping targets, typed per the underlying engine. | Programs and Program Members Marketing programs read via /rest/v1/programs.json; program membership and member status managed via /rest/v1/leads/programs/{programId}.json and the program status endpoint for acquisition and attribution reporting. | Columns is specific to Amazon RDS and Programs and Program Members to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Primary and Unique Keys Match keys for idempotent upserts. | Smart Campaigns Automation flows read via /rest/v1/campaigns.json and run against a set of Leads by requesting a trigger campaign with POST /rest/v1/campaigns/{id}/trigger.json, so downstream logic can push Leads into a Marketo flow. | Primary and Unique Keys is specific to Amazon RDS and Smart Campaigns to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Read Replicas Low-impact read endpoints often used as the source side of a sync. | Leads Core person records (called Leads/People), deduped on email address by default or a configured dedupe field; read via GET /rest/v1/leads.json with a filterType, upserted via POST /rest/v1/leads.json (action createOrUpdate/createOnly/updateOnly), bulk-imported via CSV through POST /bulk/v1/leads.json, and bulk-exported via /bulk/v1/leads/export/create.json. | Read Replicas is specific to Amazon RDS and Leads to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Stored Procedures Engine-specific logic that can react to synced rows. | Companies Company records linked to Leads via a company link field; read and upserted through /rest/v1/companies.json, typically mastered in a CRM or ERP and written into Marketo for account context. | Stored Procedures is specific to Amazon RDS and Companies to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Databases Engine-level databases on the instance that scope a sync's reads and writes. | Opportunities and Opportunity Roles Revenue objects synced via /rest/v1/opportunities.json and /rest/v1/opportunities/roles.json; roles associate an opportunity with a Lead, so pipeline data can drive nurture and scoring. | Databases is specific to Amazon RDS and Opportunities and Opportunity Roles to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. | |
| Schemas Namespaces within a database used to isolate synced tables. | Custom Objects Auxiliary data tables described via /rest/v1/customobjects.json and read/written via /rest/v1/customobjects/{apiName}.json, linked to Leads by a dedupe/link field so campaigns branch on records like purchases or subscriptions. | Schemas is specific to Amazon RDS and Custom Objects to Marketo — each maps to any object or custom field on the other side. |
Each direction of the sync is driven by what the source system can signal and what the destination accepts — detection, delivery, and expected latency below.
DetectionChanges in Amazon RDS are captured at the source via change data capture — no polling loop against its API. Engine-native log-based CDC: MySQL/MariaDB binlog, PostgreSQL logical replication, SQL Server CDC.
DeliveryEach detected change is written to Marketo through its API, with automatic retries and rate-limit backoff.
DetectionStacksync polls Marketo for changes on an incremental schedule, reading only records changed since the previous pass. Polling: Get Lead Changes and Get Lead Activities from a paging token seeded by a sinceDatetime, plus Get Deleted Leads, or Bulk Extract filtered on.
DeliveryEach detected change is applied to Amazon RDS as a row-level write, with types converted between the two schemas.

Authenticate Amazon RDS and Marketo with each platform's native method — OAuth, API keys, or service accounts — plus secure options like SSH tunneling, IP whitelisting, and VPC peering.
Pick the Amazon RDS and Marketo objects to sync — Stacksync auto-detects both schemas, including custom fields where the platform exposes them. Sync to existing tables, or let Stacksync create new ones with ideal data types.
Fields map automatically even when names and types differ. Stacksync handles transformation and type casting for you, zero configuration required.
Yes. Stacksync provides a managed, real-time two-way integration between Amazon RDS and Marketo: authenticate both systems, choose the objects to sync (such as Amazon RDS's Columns and Primary and Unique Keys), map fields visually, and changes propagate both ways in milliseconds — no code required.
On the Amazon RDS side: Schemas, Tables, Views, Columns, plus custom fields where Amazon RDS exposes them. On the Marketo side: Leads, Companies, Opportunities and Opportunity Roles, Custom Objects. Stacksync auto-detects both schemas and converts types between the two systems.
Yes. Each object mapping can be bidirectional or restricted to a single direction (both systems accept writes). Read-only mirrors, one-way pushes, and full two-way sync can be mixed in the same integration.
Common patterns for Amazon RDS and Marketo: Keep contact attributes consistent; Query Marketo like a database; Build audiences from your own data. Lifecycle stage, subscription status, or plan maintained on either side stays current on the other, ending exports and dual data entry.
Amazon RDS: SQL wire protocol of the chosen engine (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Oracle). Authentication: Database credentials over SSL/TLS, or IAM database authentication on supported engines. Marketo: Marketo REST API (JSON over HTTPS) for Leads, Companies, Opportunities, Custom Objects, Activities, Lists, Programs, and Campaigns, plus an asynchronous Bulk Import (leads) and Bulk Extract (leads/activities/program members/custom objects) API and an Asset REST API for emails, forms, and landing pages. Authentication: OAuth 2.0 client_credentials (2-legged): GET the Identity URL /oauth/token?grant_type=client_credentials with a Custom Service client_id and client_secret to receive an access token valid for 3600 seconds, then send it as Authorization: Bearer on each call. The instance base URL is https://{munchkinId}.mktorest.com; passing the token as an access_token query parameter is deprecated (removal July 31, 2026). Stacksync manages authentication, retries, and rate limits on both sides.
Amazon RDS: RDS is a managed hosting layer, not a separate API: clients connect with standard engine drivers at the instance endpoint. Marketo: Interactive calls are limited to 100 per 20 seconds (error 606) and 10 concurrent calls (error 615) per instance, neither of which can be increased, under a default 50,000-calls-per-day quota that resets at midnight CST. Stacksync's field mapping accounts for these differences between Amazon RDS and Marketo without custom code.
