Pinecone: Two HTTP APIs: a control plane at api.pinecone.io (manage indexes, collections, backups, and, via the Admin API, projects and API keys) and a per-index data plane at the host returned by describe_index (upsert, query, fetch, update, delete, list). A gRPC data-plane transport is available through the official SDKs. Authentication: API key in the Api-Key request header, scoped to one project; every request also sends an X-Pinecone-Api-Version header (date-based, e.g. 2025-10). The organization Admin API instead uses OAuth2 client-credentials (service accounts) via login.pinecone.io/oauth/token, passing a Bearer token to api.pinecone.io/admin (Enterprise). SAP Hana: SQL over the SAP HANA client (JDBC/ODBC drivers); OData/REST via XS for app-layer access. Authentication: Dedicated database user credentials over an encrypted TLS connection (password sent hashed); Kerberos, SAML, JWT, and X.509 certificate authentication are also supported. SAP HANA Cloud enforces TLS and IP allowlisting. Stacksync manages authentication, retries, and rate limits on both sides.
Pinecone: Hard request limits: an upsert is capped at 2 MB or 1000 records, filterable metadata at 40 KB per record, dense vectors at up to 20,000 dimensions, and query top_k at up to 10,000 with a 4 MB result cap. SAP Hana: Connections are governed by workload classes and admission control, so heavy sync concurrency competes with production query load and can be throttled by memory and thread caps. Stacksync's field mapping accounts for these differences between Pinecone and SAP Hana without custom code.
