The message structure supports batch reporting, with up to 9,999 consignment records in a single message. A carrier, 3PL, or terminal operator sends IFTSTA to the shipper, consignee, or logistics provider that requested status reporting on the consignment. A tracked transport event occurs, such as container loading, vessel departure, an in-transit exception, or delivery, and the responsible carrier's system emits a status update to subscribed parties.
