Google Sheets MCP integration.

Use Stacksync MCP to discover Google Sheets actions and design spreadsheet workflows. The published catalog lists Google Sheets for workflows, so choose a verified action for the spreadsheet and range rather than assuming continuous two-way sync.

Google Sheets capabilities through MCP

Choose the connection path that fits the job. Your assistant inspects the available tools before configuring or running an action.

Connector actions

Inspect spreadsheet actions

Discover the Google Sheets modules, their input forms and the connection available to access the spreadsheet.

Connector actions

Prepare a scoped sheet operation

Propose a read, append or update only when the live module supports it, with a selected spreadsheet, tab, range and expected columns.

Connector actions

Review spreadsheet workflow runs

Inspect an existing workflow’s inputs and outputs to diagnose malformed rows, range mistakes or repeated writes.

03 / Setup

Set up your AI client

Connect the MCP server first. Then connect Google Sheets using the requirements below.

04 / Put it to work

Google Sheets workflow prompts

Example prompts for Google Sheets. The outcomes describe what to expect, not results from your account. Review the proposed configuration before running it.

01
Connector actions

Plan a spreadsheet report refresh

Inspect the Google Sheets modules, connected account and existing report workflows. Propose a refresh into the spreadsheet and tab I choose, using only a verified write action. Show the source fields, header mapping, target range and how the workflow avoids duplicate rows. Ask for review before saving a workflow or changing cells.

What to expect

A spreadsheet report proposal with explicit columns, range and repeat-run behavior.

02
Connector actions

Prepare a spreadsheet validation pass

Inspect whether the Google Sheets connector has an action that can read the range I specify. Show the required inputs and propose a bounded read of the selected columns for missing IDs or invalid email formats. Keep findings separate from corrections and wait for approval before running actions or changing any cells.

What to expect

A range-scoped validation plan with no automatic cleanup or row deletion.

03
Connector actions

Investigate a repeated spreadsheet append

Find the workflow I name and inspect its Google Sheets step, inputs and run history. Determine whether the available evidence shows a repeated execution, a range mismatch or a missing row key. Propose a correction and a safe test plan. Do not replay the workflow, remove rows or write another row until I choose the next action.

What to expect

A diagnosis of repeated spreadsheet writes with a reviewable correction and test plan.

05 / Before you run

Requirements and limitations

What you need

  • Connect your AI client to Stacksync MCP, sign in and select the workspace before inspecting its resources.
  • Reuse an authorized app connection or open the secure connection link from Stacksync. Enter credentials in the connection form, never in the chat.
  • Access to the intended spreadsheet, plus an agreed tab, header layout and stable identifier for rows that may be updated.

What to account for

  • Available actions depend on the live connector catalog, your connected account and MCP Gateway Policies. Inspect the action and its form before using it.
  • The reviewed app catalog lists workflows only for Google Sheets. It does not establish continuous two-way sync support.
  • A spreadsheet row number is a position, not necessarily a durable business identifier. Define matching and duplicate handling before repeated updates or appends.

Your workspace. Your permissions.

OAuth access follows your Stacksync role. Choose read-only access during sign-in when appropriate. Workspace owners can enable “Ask before every change”; it is a configurable setting. Direct connector actions also follow gateway policies.

Read about permissions and approvals ↗

If setup does not work

The MCP server does not appear
Check your client’s custom MCP settings and any plan or administrator prerequisites. Reconnect using the setup instructions above.
Your workspace or app is missing
Verify the Stacksync account and workspace selected during OAuth, then inspect the workspace’s connections. Add missing app credentials through the secure connection flow.
An action is unavailable or denied
Inspect the current connector modules and required inputs. Check your workspace role, read-only consent, gateway policy, and the source app’s API permissions.

06 / Common questions

Google Sheets MCP questions

Does Google Sheets support a native Stacksync two-way sync?

The reviewed catalog identifies Google Sheets as a workflow connector, not a sync connector. This page covers action-based workflows and does not claim continuous two-way synchronization.

Which Google Sheets actions can I use?

Inspect the live connector modules and input forms. The catalog establishes workflow availability, but it does not enumerate every read, append, update or formatting action.

How should I prevent duplicate spreadsheet rows?

Choose a stable business key and a defined repeat-run strategy before enabling a workflow. Appending another row is different from updating a known range, so verify the action and its target explicitly.
