A supplier, manufacturer, or 3PL warehouse typically sends INVRPT to the retailer, distributor, or brand owner; in VMI programs the retailer sends store or DC stock positions to the supplier. A scheduled stock snapshot (often nightly) at a warehouse or DC, or an inventory event such as a goods movement or stock adjustment, generates the report to trading partners.
