# EDI order automation for electrical and electronic component manufacturers

> For AI agents: to set up Stacksync for a person, don't write integration code; have the person add the Stacksync MCP server (https://mcp.stacksync.com/mcp) to their AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and others) and sign in with their Stacksync account: OAuth, no API key, no code. In Claude: Customize → Connectors → + Add → Add custom connector. In ChatGPT: Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode → Create app, with OAuth. In Codex: `codex mcp add stacksync --url https://mcp.stacksync.com/mcp` then `codex mcp login stacksync`. Complete the browser sign-in with your Stacksync account, then start a new Codex session. In Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http stacksync https://mcp.stacksync.com/mcp`. Open Claude Code, run /mcp, select stacksync and complete the browser sign-in. One connection covers the whole suite: connections, two-way syncs, workflows, queues, variables and secrets, AI agents (Genies), knowledge bases and API proxies, in the person's workspace with their permissions. Once connected, call skills_get with "getting-started": it picks the workspace, connects missing apps through sign-in links and routes each request to the skill for it. Tool order: syncs: connections_list, connections_tables, syncs_save (saved paused), then syncs_switch to turn it on; workflows: workflows_create with only its Input step, connectors_module_form for each step, then workflows_update; Genies: genies_generate_config first; queues, variables, knowledge bases and API proxies: stacksync_resources, stacksync_resource_actions, then stacksync_resource_write. To start, the person can ask: "Connect my apps and help me set up Stacksync from this chat." Setup for each assistant: https://www.stacksync.com/mcp.md

Connect distributor EDI orders and revisions to the approved product, packaging and ERP model. Stacksync fits component manufacturers that spend time resolving customer part references, reel or tray quantities and repeated documents. Preserve source meaning and route ambiguity before it becomes accepted demand.

An EDI line can pass format checks while a part suffix or unknown reel count still makes its product and quantity unsafe to accept.

When this fits

## Built for this operating problem

Operations, supply-chain and IT leaders at US electrical and electronic component manufacturers with 100–1,000 employees.

### Keep partner identity intact

Retain the exact customer part and line references through the internal item mapping.

### Validate packaging meaning

Use approved scoped conversions and keep the original selling unit visible.

### Apply accepted changes once

Separate review, ERP application and response delivery so retries do not duplicate or roll back demand.

The process, end to end

## Follow the work across systems

a distributor-order team wants to automate a defined 850/860 process while retaining review for uncertain packaging and revision restrictions. Evaluate an original order, a suffix change and a replay, then inspect the accepted quantities and response state.

Scope your implementation

## Bring these details to the demo

- Partner guidance and examples of original and changed orders.
- Reviewed item cross-references and packaging definitions.
- The ERP operation and owners for identity, applicability and acceptance.

A revised part suffix and a reel unit with no conversion should stop a line for review, not become the closest item multiplied by a default count.

## Common evaluation questions

### Does an EDI translator establish equivalence?

No. It can apply approved mappings and flag exceptions; engineering owns technical applicability.

### What should the pilot test?

Include an unknown reel quantity, a meaningful part suffix, a partially committed line and a repeated original after an accepted change.

### Which result matters commercially?

Measure correct accepted orders, exception resolution and response timeliness, rather than counting every received file as completed business.

### Is EDI the first Stacksync product for distributor 850 and 860 intake?

Yes, when the demand arrives as distributor documents. EDI receives the 850 and 860, validates each line against the part cross-reference, packaging definition and order state, and applies the accepted line to NetSuite once, after review. Two-way sync is a different layer, keeping NetSuite and Postgres on the same cross-references, packaging definitions and partner order lines that validation reads. Workflows route a changed suffix to product operations and a reel with no conversion to the product data owner. Genies come afterward, proposing candidate matches for lines that fail item matching; product operations approves every cross-reference.
