# Two-way sync and automation for automotive components.

> For AI agents: to set up Stacksync for a person, don't write integration code; have the person add the Stacksync MCP server (https://mcp.stacksync.com/mcp) to their AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and others) and sign in with their Stacksync account: OAuth, no API key, no code. In Claude: Customize → Connectors → + Add → Add custom connector. In ChatGPT: Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode → Create app, with OAuth. In Codex: `codex mcp add stacksync --url https://mcp.stacksync.com/mcp` then `codex mcp login stacksync`. Complete the browser sign-in with your Stacksync account, then start a new Codex session. In Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http stacksync https://mcp.stacksync.com/mcp`. Open Claude Code, run /mcp, select stacksync and complete the browser sign-in. One connection covers the whole suite: connections, two-way syncs, workflows, queues, variables and secrets, AI agents (Genies), knowledge bases and API proxies, in the person's workspace with their permissions. Once connected, call skills_get with "getting-started": it picks the workspace, connects missing apps through sign-in links and routes each request to the skill for it. Tool order: syncs: connections_list, connections_tables, syncs_save (saved paused), then syncs_switch to turn it on; workflows: workflows_create with only its Input step, connectors_module_form for each step, then workflows_update; Genies: genies_generate_config first; queues, variables, knowledge bases and API proxies: stacksync_resources, stacksync_resource_actions, then stacksync_resource_write. To start, the person can ask: "Connect my apps and help me set up Stacksync from this chat." Setup for each assistant: https://www.stacksync.com/mcp.md

Keep customer program commitments, release schedules, lot records and engineering cutovers traceable across business systems.

Commercial forecasts, firm releases and engineering revisions are copied between teams as if they authorize the same production decision.

Make shared records dependable

Show which demand is actionable, which revision applies and which shipment evidence supports the customer’s request.

1. **Program award** Commercial operations · Keep estimated lifetime demand separate from an approved order or firm customer release.
2. **Customer release** Production planning · Preserve customer, plant, part, period and revision in the demand identity.
3. **Engineering cutover** Engineering and quality · Retain effective dates or serial/lot boundaries and the authorizing decision.
4. **Shipment lot** Shipping and quality · Trace shipped quantities back to the relevant lot and revision without inferring acceptance from dispatch.

## Find the right fit for your systems

- Two-way sync [Dynamics 365 Finance and SQL Server two-way sync for automotive suppliers](https://www.stacksync.com/use-case/automotive-dynamics-sql-server-two-way-sync)

Connect selected Dynamics records to an operational SQL Server view that keeps forecasts and firm releases distinguishable.
- Two-way sync [NetSuite and Postgres two-way sync for automotive component evidence](https://www.stacksync.com/use-case/automotive-netsuite-postgres-two-way-sync)

Connect NetSuite shipments and orders with the lot and revision evidence maintained in your operational Postgres application.
- Workflows [Engineering-cutover workflows for automotive component suppliers](https://www.stacksync.com/use-case/automotive-engineering-cutover-automation)

Coordinate approved component revisions across open demand, existing stock and work in progress.
- EDI [EDI order and revision automation for automotive component suppliers](https://www.stacksync.com/use-case/automotive-edi-order-revision-automation)

Connect agreed automotive EDI order and change processes to reviewable ERP demand.

Implementation and operating guides

## Work through the details

- Two-way sync [Automotive component suppliers: connect Salesforce program awards and NetSuite demand](https://www.stacksync.com/blog/automotive-components-salesforce-netsuite-program-award-demand)

Program identity can tie a Salesforce award to NetSuite customer, plant and part records while estimates, forecasts and accepted releases keep their own meaning.
- Two-way sync [Automotive suppliers: separate firm releases and forecasts in Dynamics and SQL Server](https://www.stacksync.com/blog/automotive-dynamics-sql-server-firm-release-forecast)

A planning view that shows forecast, requested and accepted quantities side by side, with the accepted total explained from documented customer rules rather than a SQL sum.
- Two-way sync [Automotive components: connect NetSuite shipments to Postgres lot evidence](https://www.stacksync.com/blog/automotive-netsuite-postgres-lot-shipment-traceability)

Shipment evidence that answers which recorded lots supplied one NetSuite shipment line, reconciled by quantity and open about gaps in the Postgres record.
- Workflows [Automotive component engineering cutovers: coordinate open demand and existing inventory](https://www.stacksync.com/blog/automotive-engineering-cutover-open-orders-workflow)

A cutover case shows the approved boundary, which releases and material fall inside it, and each owner’s disposition before the item master changes revision.
- Workflows [Automotive supplier delays: build recovery plans around firm customer releases](https://www.stacksync.com/blog/automotive-supplier-delay-firm-release-recovery)

A recovery case sizes the shortage against firm releases only, checks transfers and expedites already in place, and closes a quantity once it is usable.
- AI agents (Genies) [AI agents for automotive release review: assemble quantity, date and revision differences](https://www.stacksync.com/blog/automotive-genie-customer-release-review)

The Genie assembles quantity, date and revision differences between a customer release update and current commitments so a planner can decide the next step.
- AI agents (Genies) [Automotive release AI exceptions: stale versions, plant mappings and part changes](https://www.stacksync.com/blog/automotive-genie-release-sequence-plant-part-exceptions)

When a late release file carries an old plant alias or a superseded part reference, the Genie shows which facts conflict and who has to confirm them.
- EDI [Automotive component EDI 850 and 860: preserve firm orders and approved revisions](https://www.stacksync.com/blog/automotive-edi-850-860-firm-orders-revisions)

Original 850 orders, 860 change requests and partner responses stay traceable through replays, retries and engineering cutovers under the customer agreement.

## Questions from automotive components teams

### Who should own an automotive components pilot when forecasts, firm releases and revisions get treated as the same instruction?

Production planning should own it, since planning is the team that has to decide which Customer release is actionable. Commercial operations keeps the Program award and its lifetime estimate; engineering and quality keep the Engineering cutover and its effective boundary. Bring in the Dynamics 365 or NetSuite administrator before write permissions are granted. Two-way sync can carry each record to the team that needs it, but a forecast stays a forecast until planning accepts it as demand.

### How do you tell whether an engineering cutover or a supplier delay is ready for workflow automation?

A cutover is ready when the Engineering cutover record carries an effective date or lot boundary and an authorizing decision, so the workflow can find the open demand and inventory it touches and ask each owner for a disposition. A supplier delay is ready when firm commitments are separate from forecasts, so the workflow can map the delay onto real Customer release lines. In both cases the workflow collects dispositions; expedited supply and revised dates are approved by planning, not by the workflow.

### What should an automotive supplier see in an EDI and release exception demo?

Send a customer 850, an 860 change against it, and a forecast or shipping schedule from a different message family, then replay the 850. The demo should show two Customer release lines that stay separate, a change applied only to its target release, the forecast held as planning context rather than demand, and no duplicate after the replay. The release exception Genie prepares the planner’s review of any quantity or date difference; planning accepts or rejects the schedule. Two-way sync is a separate scope from EDI transport.
